The Home Shop Direct Group (Littlewoods, Kays, etc) and Sygma bank ones are gone, Capital One refused, BT aren't responding atall so EQ will remove that after 30 days of no response form BT, and Virgin came back saying "No, we didn't credit search him" so I replied saying "If you don't think you searched me, why object to Equifax removing the search?" so that should be gone soon, too.

Just raise a notice of dispute. There's information on how to do this on the CRA's website.

Ok thanks, but which ones can you do that with? Some of my searches are legitimate.

Surely you need a reason to do this? Unless we could all just say we want them removing?

I just stated in my dispute "I do not recall providing permission for this search to be performed, kindly contact xxxx and request permission for it to be removed", some came back saying "yeah fine whatever" and others "Nah mate, you're trying to blag it"...

They do an unrecorded enquiry with Experian and a money laundering enquiry with call credit. No full search, but they still check to make sure you aren't a shyster.

    Ahhhhh

Ok mate, can you give me some advice - I have four accounts, and I wanna get rid of one

Barclays - Half price montly fee, CGC and £200 overdraft (wanna keep this one as over four years of green 0's and looks good when applying for credit?)
Halifax Reaward Account - £5 if I pay in £1000 - no O/D and Visa DC
Halifax EasyCash - Got it when I had CIFAS as back up to Barclays, Visa Electron Card - currently my paypal bank account
Lloyds - Thinking I may use this one, due to previous posts, no O/D and Visa DC

I am thinking the EasyCash as it does not report to CRA ;)

    Good evening people,

Capital One have increased my credit limit from 200 to 300 after I sent them a letter on monday. They still didnt give me the 1000 i asked for. Time to close account.

They have also made an unrecorded enquiry into my EX and EQ files today.

No no no, all banks bar Barclays search for their basic accounts, and reserve the right to decline.

They all subscribe to CAIS or Insight, too, getting a monthly feed from the CRA, doesn't matter what type of account you've got.

They need to check you before opening the account to make sure you aren't a fraudster and aren't legally restricted from holding accounts,

and they need to keep an eye on the monthly feed to make sure you aren't subject to judgements that render you unable to legally hold an account or commit fraud or the like after opening the account. Or anything else for that matter than mean you are no longer eligible to hold a cash account.

No bank is under obligation to open / keep open a basic account for anyone.
Ahhh, I was under the impression nobody searched - Halifax never searched me for a basic one :\. Or do you mean the unrecorded ones? That would be fine as it won't hit my score........
  • LOL! Littlewoods did not take my direct debit and applied a late payment fee. They have refunded the charge and apologised for the mix up but this better not give me a late payment marker!
