- I have to say I am impressed so far, only applied for the account on Monday, and card arrives on Wednesday, brilliant service.
I also got a question for you NID if you will: I got my Sygma (accessory card) rejection letter today, they said:
They are unable to offer me an account at present bla bla, signed by customer service manager etc etc....
then it says the following:
We can confirm that, whilst considering your application, we looked at information from the following credit reference agency - then gives Equifax address etc then suggests I get a copy of my credit file (the usual). It then says they also consider information from the following:
National Hunter - address
CIFAS - address
then it says if the Experian report does not provide me with the info I need then to SAR N Hunter and CIFAS
Is this just a standard rejection letter, or are they trying to tell me I may have data held with N Hunter and CIFAS?
Also, if I did, then would I not have problems opening accounts (such as Lloyds which was only opened Monday)?
Cheers mate
Remember I raised a NOD against all my EQ searches?
Well, I'm down from 11 to 6 now. Two more become six months old on 4th March, and the another will be removed from Virgin once they reply, so that'll be 3.
Hopefully I'll be able to get a Sygma card then!Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Cheers for that mate, was a little worried there, last time I had CIFAS I had about 30 of em, rejection after rejection, even for a basic bank account....0

You'd need to have a healthy turnover and running balance, which will dictate the risk score that Lloyds give you. If your risk score isn't bad and you don't have a "99 - Credit Policy Decline" marker (I don't and my EX file is trashed) then you can go in branch.
I went in branch to open my second current account and the lady just kept clocking "Override" or "Approve" (There were a few, her computer really didn't want to say yes I think) and gave me my a/c number for the second account.
However earlier that day I went online, logged into my lloyds account, and from the online banking it said I couldn't get another current account - so "being grilled" in branch is the way to gonever-in-doubt wrote: »Mate trust me, I did not have to send anything in! That is evident, just read back to when I applied - a week later I got the card through the post then the other bits started coming - never sent anything in.
Why did you waste a search? Mate, they declined loads of us and I said not to bother - did you listen? lol :rotfl::rotfl:
I've just had a nice letter from Natwest letting me know my Adapt account (the 2nd one I don't use) is going to be upgraded in 60 days now I'm over 18....in 60 days I'll be a few days off 19!!!! Didn't get one about the Student account as I assume when it ends I'll go to graduate or Current Plus (depending on whether I actually finish a course or not!) automatically0 -
Ah cool cheers. How come you can get a code 99 though, surely for a basic account they shouldn't search you - so I could have a string of defaults or whatever on my file and it shouldn't matter?
No no no, all banks bar Barclays search for their basic accounts, and reserve the right to decline.
They all subscribe to CAIS or Insight, too, getting a monthly feed from the CRA, doesn't matter what type of account you've got.
They need to check you before opening the account to make sure you aren't a fraudster and aren't legally restricted from holding accounts,
and they need to keep an eye on the monthly feed to make sure you aren't subject to judgements that render you unable to legally hold an account or commit fraud or the like after opening the account. Or anything else for that matter than mean you are no longer eligible to hold a cash account.
No bank is under obligation to open / keep open a basic account for anyone.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

This is the standard rejection letter than both myself and my OH got - and if you had a CIFAS against your name Lloyds would have asked for more information or declined based on a "business decision" or "not meeting criteria" rather than score.

Which searches did you get removed? How do you go about it please?0 -
The Home Shop Direct Group (Littlewoods, Kays, etc) and Sygma bank ones are gone, Capital One refused, BT aren't responding atall so EQ will remove that after 30 days of no response form BT, and Virgin came back saying "No, we didn't credit search him" so I replied saying "If you don't think you searched me, why object to Equifax removing the search?" so that should be gone soon, too.
Just raise a notice of dispute. There's information on how to do this on the CRA's website.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

They do an unrecorded enquiry with Experian and a money laundering enquiry with call credit. No full search, but they still check to make sure you aren't a shyster.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
