if you don't go 1p overdrawn for six months with lloyds tsb and credit the account well, leave a running balance, etc, they should open a full a/c without a credit search.

    thank you.

I do have a direct debit now arranged to be taken from the account so will transfer a little more over so it builds up for 6 months and try again.

    Guys,

I'm able to get decent credit again after a long time, but a bit confused as I read this thread a lot and it seems like its quite important that your on the electoral role. I've never been on the electoral role yet just lately I am able to get decent cc, loans etc, etc? will that be because I have run my others account well?

fairmorn308 - lloyds use your account conduct as the primary thing when considering what to offer you - they mostly make up their mind whether or not to give you something as an existing customer without a credit search. If you don't use the Lloyds account as your main account for six months I would expect it very unlikely they will want to upgrade you...

mawey - I was approved for a barclaycard with four figure limit in november without being on the ER, too. But you sould be. It is in fact the law to be on the ER and you will find it easier but most importantly, you will probably get lower interest rates with the reduced risk of being on the ER.

    Ok here's the difference...

Full auth cards can't be used without "Live Authorisation" with the bank, so would decline on a train or if a shop tries to use a floor limit without checking available funds with the auth centre.

Offline cards can be used without live authorisation with the bank, and these cards are the ones that don't debit the transaction amount from your available balance in real time. They can be used in shops with floor limits and on trains that don't have an active GPRS connection.

If you can use your Barclays card on the train either it isn't full auth, or they are using a GPRS connection to contact the auth centre in real time ;)

My card is an Offline card, it still debits my account in real time though unless the odd time I go to the cinema it will come off about 2 weeks later.
