Well done on the B'Card and Sygma app's matey :T :T
Apply for Tesco while you can and you know you're getting accepted, if they say no it doesn't matter cos you have these two and will no doubt wait 6 months before reapplying?
I'd do the Tesco one, if you get it and the limit is good - scrap the sygma/b'card which will be almost 10% higher anyway2010 - year of the troll

I would really like to apply for the Sygma Bank silver card but I am very concerned about the number of CIFAS flags they put on peoples accounts. I dont one and I dont want the hassle of having to fight to get it removed.
Does anyone know what the category of CIFAS is they add most often and where they get their information form so they can justify their actions i.e. in thinking they have facts that the applicant has failed to disclose, exaggarated etc.
Edit: I understand if you SAR CIFAS you get the full explanation not just the category number that would should show on a credit report, anyone done this with Sygma?0 -

They use Cat4 mate - I have had a few lol. But they do remove them if you can prove you're not deliberately lying, and only usually occurs if there have been issues with your credit file - if not, they won't.
Basically, if you've lived at current address for 3+ years you'll not get a cifas from them - it is the previous addresses and flats that they tend to mess up with. Something to do with their systems not portraying data in the correct field so even though you separate it when you apply (i.e. Flat 1, 172 High Street) their systems merge it to read 1, 172 High Street meaning it flags for cifas and the 'robot' cannot see the glaringly obvious error so adds a cfas flag.
Category 4 is as below:4 Application Fraud (Facility Refused) - An application/proposal for any facility with one or more material falsehoods in the information provided - the facility was refused2010 - year of the troll

Thanks NID, I think I will leave it then as my current address is a flat with 4 different variation and I just discovered the Open University have a 5th! Plus my previous address was also a flat and again the same problem exists.
I know Equifax do what you have just stated, and that is who they use.
Say my Royal Mail Address is:
Flat 1/1
10 Anystreet
Anytown
Their system registers it as "1 1 10, Anystreet, Anytown", apparently this is the only way they can and I have had to have my accounts all linked manually to my address.0 -

Hiya
Ive got a SAR from them, N Hunter and Synectics Solutions lol. You're misguided, a CIFAS SAR is a printout of the application form with the error/refer code - it does not tell you why they added it, obviously (or you'll make sure not to make the same mistake next time, if fraudster)....
Basically mate, you get a screen dump of a page that shows the lender sending the form with the main (primary) reason. Mine showed address mismatch which explained it, being it was an incorrect linked address. One letter to Sygma and it was removed easily enough - obviously I sent Sygma lots of proof at the time I wrote - had I not of they could have refused, but as I knew why it was added it was easier to remove.
I never got notified either, it was fluke that I SAR'd CIFAS when I did or it'd have been there a lot longer - as it happens, it was omitted from my credit file. As they suspected i'd made up an address (thus the incorrect link) they retained their right to withold the data from CRA records meaning the only way i'd know of the cifas was by SARing them.
Hope this all makes sense - you have nothing to worry about though mate :T

The CIFAS warnings that might appear on your credit file relate to Impersonation or Protective Registration and are described in more detail below:
Impersonation
Identified on a credit file as "Category 2: Victim of Impersonation" - Use, by another person, of this name and personal details
When a CIFAS member organisation identifies a fraud where an innocent party has been impersonated, a warning with the details of the innocent individual linked to the application or facility is placed on the CIFAS database. Any CIFAS member organisation subsequently conducting a search of the database using those details will see the CIFAS warning 'CIFAS - Do Not Reject - Validation Required'. This reminds the CIFAS Member (e.g. the lender or service provider) that extra precautions must be taken before approving a new application for a financial product or service, or closing an existing account. The extra checks are to ensure that the applicant/application/account holder is genuine, thus protecting the individual from further fraud.
CIFAS Protective Registration
Identified on a file as "Category 0: Protective Registration" - Recorded at the request of the person named.
If you have had personal identification documents stolen, or if your personal details have been compromised as a result of a data breach, there is a risk that they could be used by the fraudster (or the thief) to obtain credit or other products/services fraudulently in your name. Protective Registration is a service offered by CIFAS - The UK's Fraud Prevention Service - that helps to protect those whose identity is at risk due to crime. When you request CIFAS Protective Registration, a CIFAS warning with your name and personal details is placed on the CIFAS fraud prevention database indicating that you have been recorded at your own request.
Any CIFAS member organisation subsequently conducting a search of the database using details you have registered will see the CIFAS warning 'CIFAS - Do Not Reject - Validation Required'. This reminds the CIFAS Member (e.g. the lender or service provider) that extra precautions must be taken before approving a new application for a financial product or service, or closing an existing account. The extra checks are to ensure that the application comes from you, thus preventing a fraudster from impersonating you to obtain money or services in your name. Full details of the CIFAS Protective Registration service for individuals can be accessed at http://www.cifas.org.uk/
The above info is from my EQUIFAX file under CIFAS.
NID, does that mean only cat0 and cat2 are shown on credit file? so other categories will not be visible to me?0 -
No mate - my HBOS one is on my credit file and is a cat4. It depends on why they want it hidden, i,e, if it is a fraudster then they dont want them to be able to see they've cottoned on, but if its like obviously an applicant lying then they wouldn't necessarily hide it. That said, the majority of cat4's are hidden as they are usually fraud related..... But generally yes, Equifax are correct in that Category 0 (protective registration) and Category 2 (Impersonation) are usually the only 2 cifas entries visible on your credit file.

Cheers mate! I've only just seen that info on Equifax.
I've been living under the illusion that I didn't have any CIFAS markers since they weren't on my report - what an ignoramus i have been lol.
I guess it's time to SAR my cifas data. Trouble is, i am redirecting my mail temporary due to marital problems but I wonder if they come in 'do not redirect' envelopes and that will make my situation worse:(0 -
Pointless SARing them unless you know something isn't right mate, i.e. do you get rejected for no reson?
If you do SAR them, they will send it recorded so will need signing, but as far as I recall it doesn't come like credit reports with the 'do not redirect' warning....
You could apply for it and say send it to this address but they may decline. It may be best to try it and let the redirect kick in naturally. It wouldn't make anything worse at all.2010 - year of the troll
