You are probably the only person with a half decent credit history on here lol. Or maybe they are more tolerable to cifas and previous searches than adverse data.

You really can land anything if you stop applying :rotfl:

I am - no more applications for me until next year now - honest :rotfl::rotfl:

I know, thing is it is easy to tell the cifas is not really me being bad, if the underwriter takes 2 minutes and reads before pressing the decline button, they will usually allow me the account - but then my searches pull me down!

I just appealed my recent tesco and barclaycard decline - tesco have now said ok, £4100 limit :D:D

However, when I probed about AVU I was told they may reject it as I return forms - so I asked if I could do it via fax to avoid them and she told me no! lol

What irritates is why don't they speak to each other! Why let me appeal, win my appeal, get the agreement, send it back, get the card, AVU close account.

Waste of money, effort and data..... why not just say yes, or no!

    Not hard is it!

:rotfl: @ s**t limit!! That's good about the 3 months activity....so if I stopped using the card I'd keep getting 0's and could keep applying? That's better than closing it, as if they reject me and I need the money I can just use the old card!:D[/QUOTE]

Exactly, but that means no beer for you for 3 months lol.

I have also asked for a non activated card to be sent to me so I dont make a mistake of using is, not that I am not disciplined enough to stay away from the card.
You migh also want to do that if the temptation is too great to resist :rotfl::rotfl:

I believe you can stay away from the the apply button especially seeing it's now affecting you. It gets to the point when the line has to be drawn doen't it?

Who do the AVU guys think they are? I am sure they think they are god or something:mad:

Haha you asking if you could fax it back :rotfl:. It does seem so stupid though to operate in that way!!

:rotfl: I can still drink don't worry :p

It's fine I've got my Natwest credit card, with a bigger limit, so if I have to not touch Cap1 for 3 months to try and get a decent increase I will :D. Just need to hide it somewhere so we don't try and spend off it drunk.....

Trying to think of the best date to apply for the next card...I've got searches in Jan & Feb, so was thinking maybe Sept as then a lot of the searches in the last 12 months would've gone too (my app spree was Aug just before uni)

Finally got somewhere with my Student Finance money, I'm getting one due January next week, and my next and final payment for the year is April!!:eek:.. Everyone was thinking it was middle of March, apparently not! I better get saving though, suddenly realised if I get my transfer I've got to live on that until October!

    Hi everyone,
I just got off the phone to crappy1. I wanted to close my classic card account but they managed to talk me into not closing it.

They asked my reason for wanting to close and this was what i gave them:
    (1) !!!!!! credit limit and it doesn't look like am getting another increase.
    (2) I want to reapply for the progress or plus card

He then said that there was nothing to suggest that I wont get another credit limit increase since i am running my account well. (I expected him to say that anyway. They will say anything to keep a customer lol)

He also said as an existing custormer I could still apply for other capital one cards.
Apparently, if your balance is zero and you dont use your card for 3 months you can reapply for another card and if accepted, your old card will be closed automatically.

He therefore said I was eligible to apply for progress or plus card on 28 March 10 since my last account activity was 28 December 09

Step 1. Please confirm that you're eligible

When you apply for a card unsuccessfully, it can negatively affect your credit rating.
It also means that we can't consider you for another Capital One card for at least
    6 months.
You'll save yourself time and hassle if you check the eligibility criteria below before you apply. Please note that meeting these criteria does not guarantee acceptance.
    • You're over 18
    • You're on the electoral roll
    • You haven't had any CCJs or defaults in the last 12 months
    • You don't already have a Capital One credit card
Tell them to update the website:rotfl:

I would ask them to kindly put the information they have given you in writing:o

Yeah cs do chat !!!!!! sometimes, dont they? lol.

I do doubt that they'll put such information about dormant accounts on their website though. You also know that a lot of lenders have information on their website which they dont go by dont you?

Some lenders say you can only reapply after 3-6 months if you've been declined but I heard of people reapplying after a month and getting approved! I read it from someone on one of the forums here. The person said it was with barclaycard.

Barclaycard also have on their website that to have some of their cards, your history of managing credit well should be at least 4 years. We all know that many people can get those cards with less history than that.

Also, the guy who gave me the information wasn't a customer service staff per se. He was from the customer retention team. I was transfered to him by a CS advisor.

I will seek confirmation from another person though. Thanks by the way:)

    ...And that's just your opinion.

That's what is so off putting about you, you're so quick to shout everyone else down and always have to make such a big point out of being right all the time, to the point that you even announced that you phoned a bank up during working hours the other day just to prove another poster wrong.

Some might call that obsessive. Other's might call it big headed. I just find it a complete turn off and i'm sure i'm not alone.
