If it's your only default and you are managing your other accounts well you might be able to get back on the mainstream ladder once the default is 3+ years old. Exactly, the likes of Tesco will go back 2 years so if you have a great history in the last 2 years they don't always go any further back2010 - year of the troll

1 default from HSBC
they took my account away aswell, had no account 2 years back, opened a few basic accounts, they were all cash cards no debits then recently a few upgraded the card to electron or visa debit, but lloyds were useless, i could only with draw from lloyds ATM's!!!!!
Got a nice job, pays modest but progression and i've now got cap one and vanquis, and I received from N&P a ‘gold’ account with an OD lol
Recently got a sim only phone on my name, have a contract phone but in my elderly fathers name L
I’ve not incurred bank charges as yet since the HSBC fiasco

am ok. am going to go back to my LTSB account as they have a branch in my town and also am annoyed with A+L bank but only thing stopping me is my card can only be used at there banks for withdrawling money tho. Am going to have a chat with them cause will be paying in over 4k a month to the account and at least they can do is give me proper access to my money0
