Thing is I am fully expecting to be declined due to having old defaults on my credit files. I applied early last year and was declined straightt away, but this time I had to ''sign'' the online agreement but then it went on to tell me bout further checks.......... so I don't know, I wasn't on the electoral roll last year but I am now, maybe that is the difference.

I don't really want to phone unless I have to, because being told you have been declined over the phone is a bit embarrassing really isn't it?

Nah not embarrassing. I'm sure they tell hundreds of people each day they've been declined, and it doesn't necessarily mean you're untrustworthy.
