LOL. I'll probably get an old sour faced examiner, noting every single fault. Picking at the most trivial thing.

I was credit checked for my Halifax Easycash account last year, I'm also on electoral roll and had to send in a copy of my drivers license for I.D purposes.

OH didn't get credit checked for her basic Lloyds TSB account, they give you a Visa Debit aswell, but problem with that account is you can only withdraw from Lloyds TSB cash machines..
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

Thanks! It's just a mock test so it's no big deal - but it will tell me whether I'm up to scratch or will need more lessons. I've had 40 hours of lessons and I'm still almost causing crashes (I almost cashed into a cyclist last week, but they are a pain in the @ss anyway).

I'm too impatient and usually contract a bad case of road rage. :A

Applied to switch to first direct from A/L

Phoned them on sat and was declined. Was told to contact Experien to find out why i was declined. Why would i contact Experien when they wont tell me anything that i dont already know. Idiots.

I guess they dont want my 40k+ salary then.

I will wait for the letter to come through to find out where to send an appeals letter.

What's your credit file like? Any defaults/ccjs/missed payments? How many searches?

I must admit I am getting something of a buzz from my exchanges with capital one.

I opened my account 17 months ago and my credit limit was £100. It is still £100 limit. Should this not have been increased by now?

    You state this:
Credit limit increase - simply use your card† , stay within your credit limit and make your payments on time and we will increase your initial credit limit on your 4th statement .

So -- Why hasn't this applied to me?

Capital One are a bunch of jokers, I emailed asking what my increase would be and that I'd give them money if they want to give me a decent increase....they replied saying that isn't possible () and said that my limit can't be disclosed because it has to remain confidential....so how come it's all over MSE and I'd bet at 1/100 that I'm only getting a £100 increase...so much for confidential and accounts reviewed individually.... if I'd known they only give limits like that I'd have probably waited for Barclaycard Initial...

Hahahaha. It was the Man Utd card I applied for from MBNA... swear I've only applied for that once!

Got their final response today telling me that they thank me for my full submission but having reviewed their decision carefully I'm still declined and if I want to refer it I can go to the Ombudsman....

What I expected in the end really, don't know why it took them so long though! Good job they didn't respond by email afterall....:p

Bummer mate - thought you went for the England card - well that's what you used to bang on about :rotfl: :rotfl:

You do not get credit checked for a basic bank account, certainly not by Halifax....

What some lenders (HSBC/Natwest etc) are doing is scoring you as you complete the form so that by the end of the app you will be offered full or basic banking. However, if basic is offered their search becomes an unrecorded enquiry *(no credit = no credit search but they do enquire).

    * Remember bankruptcy is adverse and most banks reject this other than Barclays & CoOp. :o
