I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome too Ukbadger ~ I was diagnosed 8 years ago and my lovely considerate GP said that it would be ok as I had already had my children (I have two teenagers). I still get mad when I think about it. I have put on lots of weight since, over 3 stone so far and can't seem to shift it, just put more on :o ~ what did you do? just diet alone?

Enjoy the bbq ~ your family are all on your side don't forget :)

I'm from Wirral Cora, close enough to Liverpool/Manchester? I've been through almost exactly what you're going through with my ex too....pm me, if you want to chat.

I did it through diet - the consultant I went to gave me a diet sheet with a 500 calories a day diet on it  I came out of his office and put it in the first bin I found. I joined WW and lost ten stone over about two years - I didn't go every week and I wasn't meticulous about counting points , I went probably every month with some spurts of weekly enthusiasm and my leader was very understanding about why I played it this way. I went from 23 stone 5 to 13.10 during that period.

Three years ago I was diagnosed with Crohns and was in a real mess couldn't keep anything down . Eventually had surgery which went wrong and nearly died , contracted MRSA etc etc - upshot was went down to around 11 stone , but as I'm 5'10 I just looked emaciated.

I'm back at WW now - went up to 15.3 earlier in the year , combination of Crohn's being under control but still snacking too much, being pregnant and then subsequently miscarrying - have lost 11 pounds in 8 weeks , not fantastic but feeling better about myself x

Sorry about the l-o-n-g posts !

PS My avtar is my dog Tills (my best friend) - she is wearing her england shirt but is so bored she is now snoring at the other end of the sofa !

    Oh blimey :( :grouphug:

I've never tried any diet at all ~ I was always relatively skinny then I gave up smoking and have just piled it on since. Maybe weightwatchers is the way to go then.........

I'm sure you look fine ;) ~ just walk tall and think confident! Not easy I know :o

I missed the program about pcos. I had it from the age of 30. didnt have the weight gain but dreadful acne. Pustules that a horror movie would have been proud of.
Got my gynae to give me a hysterectomy in the finish got really sick of `try this tab, not working, right try this one` and the mood swings:eek:
That was seven years ago and for me it was the best option.

I live with the spots ~ so far they aren't bad enough to make me do something about it. Its the lack of periods and the hellish pms every month :o

Know what you mean about the lack of periods with it, every time I went Docs he said right lets do a pregnancy test, took changing Docs before they looked any further.

Yes, been through that ~ 'Oh so you're not pregnant then'

Maybe a change of gp would do me good, although considering I am in a practise with 4 gp's none of them seem any good :(

Oh well ~ the belly dancing sounds like fun, maybe I should go for that to help with the weight loss, or at least learn to like my belly :p
