Morning All
Love the photos Mcl - wish I was there to see the tattoo.
CG - the move will be great and you will be very happy in damp cottage..
CC - I wouldn't see it as gambling, its a quiz, would a quiz night in the pub with prizes be gambling?
Had a nice time last night, friend from way back came over to discuss his website that I look after and it was nice to have company. Also one of the friends I emailed last week emailed back and I will be seeing her soon. H ave a bit of a hangover now though, drank a bottle of wine last night. Oh and have a horrid little monster jumping on me and shouting "move bubby puter NOW!" so must go. ByheThe best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0 -
Morning all,
good grief messy, that coffee must have been strong! I started only decaff after abour 8pm and couldn't believe the difference it made....only problem now is when I get the containers mixed up!
zcazz, you have inspired me to start knitting again, I used to love it when I was younger. What kind of things do you make?
morning rose, best of luck with the exhibition - all my creative instincts flee my body when I need them most! What about (and this might be a bit of a mad idea) reading the cryptic crossword clues, as they normally have loads of mad words and stuff. Bit odd I know, but it might be worth a go.
People, you have got to help me here - I have a dissertation due on the 8th Sept and am reaching new levels of procrastination. I have decided I can visit MSE only a couple of times a day, and the rest HAS to be spent working.
Just keep reminding me will you??

I love love love freecycle ~ I get to get rid of all my junk so I can have other peoples junk instead
I saw some really cool wool in World Books/The Works the other day in town. It would have made a funky scarf! I'll have to go in and actually buy some next time....

DivorcingJAck,
ooh- am interested in your dissertation procrastination! lol! I supervise dissertations and am also an habitual procrastinator so you are a fascinating subject for me!
I can recommend the book "The Now Habit" by Peter Fiore (this is not me, btw!)
Do you have difficulty getting started with working on it? or is it keeping going? or both?

What do I knit.....Hmmm!! i used to make babies stuff, but now all those babies are heading for their teens so I'm going for beanie Hats, gloves, scarfs and bags. It's been years since I kitted so I'm starting on an easy knit and pearl pattern, so we'll see how it goes.
I find when I'm needing to get some specific work done that I sort out my work area, making sure you have all you need, including fluids. Go and leave it and do something else, but set a goal - Like at 12.30 after my lunch I will sit down and work for 3 hours or until my introduction is finished and then I'll have a break.
or
In my university days I would spend all my time procrastinating, I would tidy my room, move all the furniture about, collect all the info I needed and then the night before it was due I sit up all night and get the paper done. Hand it in the next day and go to bed.
My Thesis/dissertation for my BSc was one of the most painful things I've ever done. I'm not a natural writer, so it was blood, sweat and tears......that was just to get me sat down in front of the computer.
