Ours goes up 1st weekend in dec, comes down 1st weekend in jan. Since its your home you should do it to suit yourself. Merry Christmas!

Also when do i start writing out xmas cards? lol
Im no good at this christmas lark
Ideally it should go up on or after December 13th (12 days before Xmas) and down before the 12th night (Jan 5th.) Traditionally I think it went up on Xmas Eve though.
However, if you're a very festive person and would like the tree up earlier, December 6th is also a good choice, since it is the day Saint Nicholas died.
Personally I don't like to receive Xmas cards until mid December, because it just feels too early and not Christmassy to me, but there are always people who send them very early. I'm lucky if I get mine to people before Christmas.
The writing of them can happen anytime; start now!? 0 -
Christmas eve, after 6pm. Needs to be down by 10am on Boxing day:D
Sorry, I am not the most festive of people!!:rotfl:0 -
You are thinking of the 12 days of Christmas... which is up on Christmas Eve down on Jan 5th depending on lots of Church traditions... ...
No, that's not it....we always were told 12 days before, 12 days after.
No idea how it originated though.
I dont mind putting my tree up early but I get fed up with it once Xmas is over and it tends to come down the day after Boxing day so the 12 days never come into play in this house anyway.

Same here! Used to go up on the 1st, but now goes up on the first weekend, and comes down before new year. I think once Christmas day is over it's good to clear away and have a fresh start for New Year! Cards normally get posted or delivered from the beginning of Dec right up until Christmas day...depending how organised I am!:rolleyes:Less is more0

Tree goes up 1st of December and comes down 31st Dec or 1st Jan. So all of December really, but I LOVE Christmas!!!!"Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like its heaven on earth." - Mark Twain0

I am a total christmas nut! When I used to have a fake tree I always stayed up late on 30th nov eve with a bottle of port (gives me a christmassy feeling!) and do all the decorations. Now however, my hubby likes a real tree so it is normally up by mid dec ...depending onwhen Christmas falls...and down new year.
If you're a christmas nut like me do it as soon as you like. Cards from 1st dec. Always.0 -
Cool! I think from most of your replys its between 1st december and the first w/end of december

We dont actaully own a tree or decorations yet, so it will most prob be the first week of december at some point.
