Our tree goes up on Winter Solstice (~21st Dec) and gets taken down sometime on 31st December so that we start the new year 'new'. I like it that decorations are just up for a short while - makes a change from the shops!

Ours is/was always the weekend before Christmas, and cards sent at the start of December.
My birthday is at the start of December and I hate my birthday cards having to share space with Christmas tat!
I noticed my first decorated house last Monday - just around the corner.
Can anyone beat 17th November?
Yup - 6 doors down from me went up in the first week of November
Me? It's all I can do not to put them up in November so usually the first weekend in December (or the closest weekend to the start of December) Unfortunately, we're away this weekend so it'll have to be next weekend. Booooo.

I never put them up until the second week in december. Someone was handing out christmas cards at the school this morning!
It's my birthday at the end of november so christmas decorations before that just seem way early for me!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

At my parents' the tree always goes up on the first weekend of December, and the cards get sent out that same weekend."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

i love christmas. my parents are not very celebratory and made it clear when i was young that christmas was only being 'done' for the children and that the tree and decs and things were a bit of a chore and done a bit grudginly.
as soon as i moved into my own place, i started getting a real tree and do every year now. i put it up as early as is decent.
now we've moved into a 'proper house' instead of me having a flat and i have a bay window. the plan is already in place, furniture will be moved around in order ot accommodate the biggest tree i can.
OH's birthday is on 12th dec, so i figure that this is an excellent time to start the celebratory atmosphere by putting up the tree and decorations whilst celebrating his birthday too.0 -

Ours goes up mid November it was up about the 12th this year0 -
Put your tree up whenever you like, take it down on the 12th night.
As for cards, you don't send any now as they are not cool and wreck the environment. But if you must send them, make them yourself and don't feed the greedy card manufactory monsters

I have always put the tree up 1st weekend in December, but now all the kids have left home, it just doesn't seem the same - BUT if I dont keep this tradition up, I think I might turn into some sort of a 'humbug', so 1st weekend it will be!!!!!0
