(not meaning to be negative... but the neighbours concerned may well report it to the police even if the catalog peeps don't...)

OP... Can I suggest you call the Samaritans? 08457 90 90 90 or you can e-mail them too but I suggest you call them....

Did you have a social worker when you left home? If so, try and contact him/her because it sounds as if you are the type of young adult who still needs some support. If not, then find the number for The Samaritans and ring them asap - right now you are at rock bottom. You know you did wrong, all the chickens are coming home to roost at once, and you are in no fit state to make rational decisions right now. The letter to the neighbour was probably unwise at this point, putting something in writing that is an admission of guilt, but you were obviously not thinking straight at the time. You are going to have to face up to the mess you have created for yourself, but you don't have to do it alone. Social worker, Samaritans, Citizens Advice, it may even be worth checking your local council to see if there's a department to help young adults with problems (25 might be the cutoff point though). Do not contact anyone who has been hassling you for money until you get some proper help and guidance. Yes, it's a hellhole you have dug for yourself, but you CAN dig yourself out of it - you just need to get the proper advice and guidance and be prepared to face the consequences. Nobody is going to come round and break your legs, or put you up against a wall and shoot you. You might have legal proceedings taken against you but there are mitigating factors that will be considered if things get that far. Dry those tears, blow your nose, and start contacting organisations that can help. Keep posting, we will try and help as best we can.

• im so scared im only 25 (just) and i live on my own. I have come from homeless accomodation as my mum kicked me out when i was just 14.
i got my flat in 2005 and started to do the fraud in 2006/07, only stopped this year. Admittedly i used it for household items and to help pay off this stupid loan shark that i had a loan with.
I went bankrupt in jan this year as i was going to be evicted from my flat due to masive rent arrears, ive made it my first home where i feel safe. :-(
this is all so stupid i know.

They only found out because my neighbour looked on her credit report and wondered why her address was linked to mine. she contacted the mail order company which opened the whole can of worms, otherwise they would of never of found out...

I took debt out at my neighbours addrersses and as soon as it arrived i changed the address to my address so the bills would get sent to me. Also i made up names and date of births to get the credit. They obviously dont credit check as these people are fake people ive created and dont live at my address or the neighbours....

I had an email this morning from some agressive man from the Investigation & Police Liaison team at the mail order company...

first email-
I am currently investigating a fraud occurring at ********* in which goods from this company have been indirectly recieved by yourself at number ** After a breif investigation I have obtianed certain details including the IP address of the application. Please contact me as a matter of urgency. My next step is to prepare witness statements from ourselves and our courier and escalate this in to police investigation.

2nd email
Perhaps I can refer you to the 'history' button on your PC. The above account was applied for using your details giving the address of **
Interviews and witness statements with our courier service confirm delivery to your address **. You have denied these deliveries to your neighbour Mrs **** however I hold copies of several signatures obtained by the same courier for accounts in your own name, and those of Claire, Jenny, Janet ,Paul, Gemma, Ameila, Stephen, Amy, Emily,Carly,Jane, Hayley, Andrea, Alice, Ben, Rachel, Louise, Lucy and Pete **** at your address. All of which share your E mail address and password. Currently there are balances outstanding in excess of £10,000,00 (Ten Thousand Pounds) at your address with this group with at least £4,000 being obtained fraudulently. There are also 28 further failed applications at ********* and a further 117 applications at your current address. All this information has been collated and the company are looking for restitution under the fraud act 2006. A letter has been sent to your home address to confirm this.

Thats when i rang him, he had me in tears within minutes, very cruel and abrupt man... i was just on my way to hospital before i called him and he said so what.
He said i must pay £400 (which was the last debt i took out) within 14 days plus go to the neighbours and apologise. He said that if i didnt do it he would prosecute....
He then went on to tell me his options- 1 was to contact my official reciever and get my bankruptcy prevoked but he said then the debt would just all be transfered into my name and then id probably go bankrupt again so that wouldnt work in their favour, the second was to go straight to police.... the third was to let all the neighbours call the police by telling the ones that dont know what i did....

i wrote a letter and posted it in the neighbours door (the one that reported me) i apologised alot....

there is no way i can get £400 in 14 days as im on disabled benefits as i have a chronic lung condition and had to give up work.

im screwed i have been crying all afternoon at the hospital.

why did i do it?
you can all say nasty things and hate me, im already knocked down and cant get back up......

• No proper advice to give I'm afraid, but I think Bazwod and Nargleblast have made some really useful suggestions about your next steps. The only thing I would add is that as you have suffered with depression, and you are feeling on the verge of crisis now, as well as speaking to the Samaritans (as others have advised) you may find you need some support for your mental health so that you can get through this. And you can get through this; it may seem like a brick wall but there will be a way though even if there are important consequences to face up to as you do so. You could contact MIND and their helpline in the first instance and they may able to put you in touch with someone locally: http://www.mind.org.uk/help

Best wishes,

Justicenpeace.
• Firstly, please try to put the suicide thoughts out of your mind, its not the end of the world and with the right advice you will be able to get this sorted. Maybe you would feel better if you spoke to your mother or a member of your family to make them aware of your situation. Contact CAB or CCCS and get some legal advice from them, hopefully they will be able to tell you what your best options are. I acknowledge that you regret your actions and know that you have done wrong. Why did you got involved with loan sharks when you were in full time employment at the time?

Sorry for being sceptical here however reading through some of the OP's posts makes me have doubt’s to how genuine they really are. Please accept my apologies if I am wrong, however some of the information you have written in your threads appears to contradict your situation.

I’m surprised that you failed esa medical with a score of 0 points, considering that you ve had a chronic lung condition for 9 years, no doubt you will be attending the respiratory clinic at the hospital. This information will be help within your medical records, obtaining a copy from your doctor would be sufficient evidence to confirm your illness.

You are unable to go out in public or alone due to that you cant walk at all and you suffer from severe anxiety, however you were getting a quote to go on holiday 6 weeks ago. Thankfully there does appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel for you though as now that your returning to work (re- thread below), you'll be able to negotiate a repayment plan to pay the money back.

I really am trying to be helpful here and not criticise..~I hope it doesn't come across as that.

It's clear to me that you aren't well, mentally I mean. Not crazy..but some form of depression or similar? Normal people would dream o fdoing this and making it so simple to be caught...you can't have been thinking straight at all. Like a compulsive disorder?

The courts and police may take that into account should it come to that kind of action...and I would make an effort to see medical experts on this matter first for a diagnosis.

There is a massive difference between someone who intentionally steals for profit and someone who can't stop themselves and doesn't know why.

Stop thinking of harming yourself. Get help like you have here ASAP.

I admire your honesty here and taking ownership of the fault. Many wouldn't.
I wish you luck.

Please don't worry yourself too much. Just take things in steps, think about what you are going to do next. I suggest you ring up the samaritans like others have suggested and see what they come up with, they may even give you a number for you to ring. I am no good with these sort of things but all I can say is, it must be hard for you to be kicked out at 14 with nobody guiding you through childhood/life. What you did is wrong but you know that and that is a good step! It takes alot of boll@cks to own up to something like this so that is another step! Please just try and relax and think about things before you do them, ring up as many help lines you can, even ask them to ring you back if your low on credit! Once you have spoken to them you can start putting a plan together in your head about what you can do! Good luck!!

Andy
