I submitted my gold to another highly advertised website and, was quoted nearly half the worth, refused this and received another offer again refused and then a final one. Told them what I would accept but they wouldn't bite. Asked for my gold back which they did send and insured it but only for three quarter's its value.

Left it in the drawer for three months as, did lot of research online and became extremely wary. However, looking at this forum and others, I finally (yesterday) sent in my gold. Weighed it on the kitchen scales. Received confirmation today and was only 2 grams out of the total weight. Received the amount that had been quoted - slightly more as next day price - and money now in my bank account. Well satisfied.

I can recommend this company very highly.:j

After having read this thread I decided to send Hatton 35g of 14 carat gold. I have send it on Tuesday (16.2), Royal Mail delivered on 17.2. and so far I have not heard back.
I send them an email yesterday asking for confirmation but no reply. Will wait till Monday and try calling them. I'd be lying if I said I am not worried...I will write again once I know more.

Did you fill in the HGM form on the net to get a reference number and then print it off and send it in with your gold?
(I laid the bits and pieces on my scanner/printer and made an A4 coloured photo of what I was sending in)

I have filled in and enclosed the form and got an email with my customer id etc.
Taking a pic of your items sounds like a good idea but haven't done that:(

Presumably you sent your bank details your address & email address?

It is not unknown for posties to forge the signature at the delivery address - they do it regularly at my house to avoid a 500 yard muddy walk to ring the front door bell.

Hatton got in touch today and the transaction is finalised. Money in my account. And it is not even a working day today! Cool. Got £413 for 32g. Not bad considering I got quoted 230 from other gold buying companies.:mad:

can you send gold plated bits and they somehow strip the gold off or is this not done ?

I sent off my scrap gold on Friday 19th February and the money was in my account today, 22nd February. I calculated that I had 45g but was actually paid for 45.2g. I did a lot of research online and in local jewellers and these were the best prices quoted. Some companies don't even tell you how much they will pay you ! I think the service was first class. Although at first sceptical about using such a company, I am more than happy to recommend them.

They want to melt it down.
Getting the other metals out of a mixture to find the trace of gold would require electrolysis.
That said back in the 1960's lots of vicars thought that a nice parishioner was a benefactor of the medieval church building, because he offered to sort out the leaking lead roof.
In reality he was a scrap metal dealer who could use modern techniques to get valuable impurities - mainly silver - out of the thick historic lead.
