Pipeline Card [Merged Threads]
When I signed up for the Pipeline petrolsaving project, a strange message claiming to be from Microsoft came up, inviting me to download a programme to do something to my files. I didn't, but am concerned about it. Did this happen to anyone else?? Was it a coincidence? Is there something going on here?

I signed up a little while ago but didn't get anything like that (that I can remember anyway!). In the last week there have been quite a few microsoft updates (I've had 4) so if it's one of them, it could just be coincidence?:happyhear0

Hi, not sure this is in the right place or not.
Anyway, the Pipeline Card, starting to think this is a waste of time. Lots of talk, little of anything else.
And now they are offering some Satnav unit, making out its a great price but 30 seconds on Google I found it for only £10.00 more. Which I find slightly insulting. Almost as if they have to offer something just to keep us quiet.
Disapointed.0 -
So if it's £10 cheaper, it's the best price.0

I know the net is a place for conspiracies but two things come to mind about pipeline card. 1, I think they are overwhelmed by the demands and have built up expectations which they have yet to deliver on
2. it's a ruse by a makreting company to get access to people who want to save money on motoring products.
Pipeline is a good idea and I hope it works, but like you begin to wonder exactly how much longer do we have to wait, surely they have the 100,000 subscribers by now they said they needed to negotiate with the fuel companies?0 -

And the rest. They claim to have 420,000 members on their site.I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

Yes but Pipeline are making it out to be some super fantastic deal which it isn't going by mdbs's post.0 -
I would tend to agree. It's starting to look as if the considerable database of budget-conscious car owners is being used for marketing rather than anything else.
I guess they thought after 6 months they were entitled to some remuneration and some kickbacks for passing on some business.Don't worry, we are not going to pass on your personal details to anyone else, and you are not going to get a flood of offers from us either. Remember, this has been the first such offer in six months.
Okay it seems a reasonable deal - but nothing particularly special - and if that's the very modest savings they're aiming at, Pipeline will never amount to much. If they reckon a tenner off a £239 item is "exceptional" then everyone is going to be disappointed with Pipeline.
Furthermore, I'm sure some retailers could match that price, never mind getting the price from the manufacturer directly.
I wonder if Ben Scammell ("PipelineCard Founder") would be willing to follow Martin's stance and be a little more forthcoming about whether he is making profits from such "exceptional" deals!!0 -
Must admit, I can't find it cheaper than £270. I'de be useless on haggle4me!I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

I had a (admittedly quick) look on froogle and could not find it anywhere near the price. The sites that claim they do, soon hike the price when you click onto the actual site (froogle prices get abused something rotten).
BTW the email pipeline sent is full of apologies about them sending this offer, saying it's only this one because it's too good to miss, they won't make a habit of it, sorry if it's not for you, etc. Sending out mails in this tone gains respect from me, and I trust them on this occasion.
I can't imagine how hard it must be to actually get such a thing off the ground, and supported/accepted by a decent number of retailers, so I can certainly understand the slowness.
