This was enclosed as part of the supposed update email I received today as well:

"As some of you know, the first company we approached decided to 'adopt an
alternative loyalty scheme' so that has delayed the launch. We are talking to
some other partners but we are deliberately not giving out any new dates until
we are confident that they are completely reliable."

Just who the hell are 'some of you'? Weren't me for sure nor anyone else I know. As far as this supposed 1st company goes, if they are no longer any use to Ben Scammell then why not just reveal now finally who it was he WAS dealing with. No harm in that is it. Many suspect it could have been ASDA as they have recently launched the 2p off per litre credit card. One wonders???

Dear Members

As most of you have noticed, fuel prices have dropped by about 10% since our last update. As an organisation that currently represents almost 500,000 UK motorists, Pipeline has lobbied hard for price reductions and we would like to believe that our voice has been heard.

It has certainly helped matters that the price of crude oil has dropped but here's an odd thing; the wholesale price of gas has dropped too, yet prices are still going up!

To check prices across all gas and electricity providers and make sure you are getting the best deal, have a look at this page on our website (https://www.pipelinecard.org/gande.html)

Shoppers at Asda (an organisation that we spent some time talking to earlier in the year) can save an extra 2p a litre on fuel so no Pipeline Card from Asda but a small cash saving for everybody nevertheless - if you happen to live near one of their stores.

I am happy to confirm that the Pipeline Card project is still underway despite the various problems but we have taken a different tack now. Rather than relying on partnerships with retailers that have very different agendas, Pipeline is now exploring ways of financing the card directly. It's actually looking encouraging and we should have some more news on that before Christmas. Don't worry, it will still be a free card.

Meanwhile, we know that many of you are concerned about environmental issues and would like to use Bio diesel. There are still only a limited number of outlets so, as a service to members, we have developed a simple search engine to help you find your nearest supplier. Some of you already know that Richard Hammond is a big supporter of Pipeline; so we are pleased that he seems to be making a good recovery. His family have asked for donations to be made to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity who airlifted Richard to hospital and are trying to raise funds for an extra helicopter. I am happy enough to read or delete any updates from Pipeline, without clicking links, until either it gets of the ground or I give up on it. It's not as if your details have been sold on to some mailbots to spam.

DON'T get me started on this subject!. Since Pipeline are obviously having difficulty in rolling out the original idea, why doesn't it start negotiating discounts at ground level, i.e with smaller more approachable Bio Diesel producers and rolling out availability of this alternative on forecourts NATIONWIDE?. I'm certain that a reasonable percentage of its 500,000 subscribers are Diesel users and so any action on Pipelines part to better the situation would be a step in the right direction, and give them more PR especially as road derv is still priced far higher on the forecourt than Unleaded.

This all seemed a good idea several months ago when i joined,the original promise has not been fulfilled,however its costing me nothing so i will just keep hoping something will happen in the future!!

I think in all honesty most people realised that this would never get off the ground. Even if it had of done it would not have produced the results he was expecting.

Godd idea on paper but never going to be implemented in real life.

As of a couple of weeks ago, Pipeline has been going for exactly a year and
despite the long haul we are all feeling very optimistic and upbeat.

Petrol prices are already at least 5p a litre cheaper than when we started,
public awareness of our aims has grown across the country and, best of all, we
should definitely be able to announce details of the actual Pipeline Card early
in the New Year. Hang in there just a bit longer and it will all have been
worth the wait.
