Given that it's taken a number of emails for Vodafone to take notice of my report on another number, which they asked for in their second or third response to my message sent in as above, even though I gave them the number originally, I don't think we can be confident of them assigning much priority to this issue.
• I just got this text from yet another number - +44 7510 819518.

Its not a scam, its just a ordinary mobile number, doesnt cost you anything to receive a text from it, numbers to look out for are "070"
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.

You are correct that it is an ordinary number but you are incorrect that it isn't a scam.

I had not had an accident, neither had many of the postings on 'Who Calls Me'. As I have posted earlier, it is what is known as an 'Unsolicited Promotional Text/SMS' which are illegal to send under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, this is regulated by The Information Commisioners Office. For what it's worth.

@ Lee of the Web Relations Team Vodafone UK,

After the less than helpful response that I received from VF I didn't keep copies of the e-mails exchanged but I had informed The ICO, who were investigating this number, of the VF involvement. All info I have is posted here.

Its only a scam if you are stupid enough to reply to it & get involved with what ever it is promoting.
If you had phoned or text the number back, it would have cost you no more than a ordinary mobile number, how do you know if it wasnt just the person sending the text made a mistake inputting the number.

At the end of the day you got a text on your phone, it didn't cost you anything, next time erase text and get on with your life

For security reasons this has been escalated to the correct department to resolve the issue, I'm afraid we can't give out direct information regarding the number or at which stage the process is at due to Data Protection.
Rest assured it's in the correct handsets (?) for a speedy resolution. (What?) If there is anything else in the meantime please let me know.

Why do companies use the 'Data Protection Act' as a way to not give too much information? In most cases it would show how little they are doing.

Well Vodafone are not actually 100% correct. The Data Protection Act only covers personal data, so if the number is registered to a company, rather than an individual, they can't hide behind the Data Protection Act (or the I can't be bothered to help you act as it has become).

If it is a personal number, then they should not be touting for business, I would contend.

@Mchale,

Yes I agree but you have missed the whole point of this post, You will be surprised how many youngsters do answer texts such as these, giving away details of genuine phone numbers. This would allow the real scammers to do their work. This text has been doing the round for many months so Storm Data must have a good reason for sending them out, it's not hard to realise that it's financial. Genuine mobile number lists are bought and sold by the scammers, there is a very big market for this info at a cost.
From your last sentence it is very obvious that you are unaware or uninterested at the risk these companies are to your mobile phone account. I hope your number is not on one of those lists.

@ Guys Dad,

Well done with that peice of info, I wonder if our friends from the VF team would like to comment?

it's mass marketed spam being used to create 'marketing lists' (leads).

Yes they are DM/Unsecured leads, not applications.

The leads are generated from a site specifically engineered around debt help and Lending, not failed consolidation loan applications (I know the pain felt ring loan apps, I worked in DM for 8 years via GregPenn and Chiltern!), so they are the real deal.

We have a full refund policy so all fictious characters, deadlines, non UK citizens will be refunded (must be received back within 24 hours)

Hope this clarifies our position.

Regards y'all!!

Hi, guys.

i'm a colleague of Greg's. The unfiltered DM/IVA leads are voice generated. Basically, customers have responded to either an SMS, e-cast or IVR campaign.

And yes. We are looking for more Data leads.

More info, please give me a call on 0844 8714300.

Regards
