good news to everyone who has been finding it hard to hear the voice directions on the 530 if you run your smart st software and then click on setup>update software> check for updates ,it will download some new voices which are the same as before but much louder......oh joy!

Is this update in addition to the SP1 software update or part of it as I already have the SP1 update?

When I open SmartST>Setup>Update Software>Check For Updates I am taken to the Navman Website and given a list of the available updates which at present is only SP1 (13th June 2006). Nothing downloads automatically.

The only way I know of getting an auto-download is to use the Patcher 80 Software Updater Program which you can download from Navman, but this is a different process from the one you described and requires you to insert your original SmartST disc.

All I did was booted up the smart st software connected the navman, checked for update and it automatically loaded the new voice files in all the different languages, the actual voice is the same but its much louder, it definately isnt the patcher.exe update as I loaded this on my Navma last week

I've tried five times but I cannot get it to dowoad anything automatically

With the 530 connected and on, I open SmartST>Setup>Update Software>Check For Updates on Web and I am then taken to this site and that is it!!

BTW, how did you know what it was downloading, was there a display/readout?

I had the same problem but what I did was select check for updates on net. I was then taken to navman site but I had already run the new update. I then went in and selected the other option Update software on ICN. Once the screen came up I cancelled it and then the sound updates started automatically.

thats right click on > update software on ICN

Lucky have you managed to downloaded the new sound files and are they louder or am I going mad?

They seem louder but I will only be able to tell on the motorway with sunroof open, this will be the true test!
