To answer your question to get the 3d map going up the screen when you have no route programmed in you press the button that looks like a pile of books, this also toggles the display between 2d and 3d when you have a route planned in.in answer to your comment about it telling you to turn off at the roundabout the unit was actually right, the 1st turn off was into a car park the unit wont recognise this as a road therefore the straigh over would be the first turn off, as I stated before I use satnav alot so far its been dead on with destinations entered by postcode, all the different satnav systems have there own quirks, I have tried them all Garmin, Tomtom, Sony and the rest, and personally apart from the volume which I agree is a little low thias is the best I`ve used so far

Very good point about the first roundabout - still not sure about the other one though.

Please don't get me wrong - I really want this unit - where else can you get full euro maps with a branded unit for under £200? I only hope I can sort out the problems.

Rather than confuse this thread with the "How do i questions" - i've started a new tread for people who have queries on this units use -

is anyone else having problems with their ICN 530?

So far I have been miss routed 4 times - two wrong exits off roundabouts (my garmin i3 was correct on both) and twice opposite directions given in verbal and visual commands.

1 fatal error, 1 windows CE error, 1 lockup (frozen screen) and 1 application error - all required a re-boot.

A friend of a friend is on his 2nd unit - the first suffred terminal battery failure within 1 day, the second is having similar directional problems to mine.

I found that with their previous models. It seems they send out some faulty units and with bothe the previous models I got them! This one however has been fine and not crashed once! Have you updated it? (note - I havent)...

mine has been fantastic although I do agree, the volume is a little on the low side. I think the quality of the speaker lets this unit down which is a real shame.

  • Mine is still going strong and I have decided to keep it even though the voice is definitely not loud enough.

There must be a way of downloading different voices surely?

I think I could do with a Dom Jolly and his Nokia "Hello"!

One solution is to run TomTom on it instead.

It works very well and is much easier to install than in previous models.

You get the benefits of all the TomTom voice files which are *much* louder - I use John Cleese. Also installing POI's is far simpler and I prefer the display. Its has never locked up on me and never misrouted me (yet!).

You do of course need to own a copy of the TomTom software.

Why would you buy a new Navman and then slap Tomtom on it? if you want a Tomtom buy one I`ve tried them all and the 530 is up there with the best, and at £209 it was a bargain plus the traffic module has no subscription to it unlike Tomtoms which have a monthly fee.I have the module and its superb

I know this sounds silly, but it is louder when not mounted. If you have a passenger and they hold it its great. I think the stand covers part of the speaker and thats why its quiet. Very bad design...
