Hi Mouche, sorry to read your about your troubles, and I cant offer you any advice, but I hope you get things sorted out and can stay, as we need people like you and your husband in this country.
I admire you, the fact you want to work and better yourself and not scrounge of the state.
Our goverment havent a clue  they hand out money and accomodation willy nilly to the wrong ones who wont work or dont want to work, and yet here is 2 upstanding people who want to work and make something of thier lives, it beggars belief that this is happening to you.

I hope you will keep us posted, and I will keep my fingers crossed for you, you have plenty support on here.:D
  • Hi mouche - not suprised the stress got to you, but lovely to hear you have made up so quickly.
I think you are doing the right thing not to let on to folks back in India, hard as that is - their worry and stress would probably make it worse and make your DH feel more of a failure, when in fact he has done brilliantly to get another offer so quickly.
I can't tell you how utterly heartwarming it is to read all the support you are getting:T.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Good luck with it, hope it gets sorted for you and you husband. Sending hugs.

I am so grateful for all the support I'm getting here. You are all so kind and have restored my faith in the goodness of people here. Thank you so much.

Husband has submitted his documents and apparently the HR country head was there and she agreed to take them to the head office with her and deliver them to the appropriate person. So hopefully getting them from the big boss will move things along a little quicker.

He also spoke to an immigration advisor and was told that since we haven't yet got a letter from the Home Office asking us to leave, his ex employers may not have informed the Home Office yet that he no longer works there. So we may have more than 28 days because our actual visa won't expire for some time. He can't work till he gets the new permit but unless he gets a letter telling him to leave, he can stay.

It's a bit of a grey area but the immigration advisor said that a little bit more than 28 days gap between jobs ought not to affect anything - provided of course we don't get that letter. Why don't the posties strike when you want them to?!! :)

I'm relieved at what the immigration guy said - this Friday is the 28th day and I don't think we'll be able to submit the application to the Home Office by then. But hopefully, we can early next week and surely they won't make a fuss if it's 30 or 31 days instead? Am feeling positive today - we're doing all we can (thanks to some brilliant suggestions here) and I'm sure it will be ok.

Thanks again - you are all wonderful.

The problem that people can have with immigrants is that they like to seperate themselves from the rest of us, ot speak the language, generally arrive with hands open and not adding much to the economy.

Sadly, there are such people and that feeds the bad press...harming the good guys.

I hate to see hard working honest folk get into silly situations like this over a little paperwork. The rules are there to protect the country from the freloaders not the honest workers.

I hope things continue to improve as they appear to be now?

I hope your hubby likes this new job after all this trouble :rotfl:

    Best of luck

Hey, like a few others i don't have any practical advice but wanted to wish you and your husband well, and i hope things work out for you. As a uk benefit claimant i'm actually shocked and appalled (and feeling pretty guilty) that the government is treating you in this way, as you're obviously both decent, honest, hard-working people. I hope this is sorted soon and it doesn't stress you out too much.

    Hi Mouche.

Glad to hear that hubby is getting sorted.
  • That's great news from the immigration advisor. Fingers crossed they are right about your husband's old company and he has much more time than he originally thought! That would be great. Hope it all works out for you! x

Mouche, I've been following your thread, and just wanted to wish you good luck - I've got everything crossed for you that it all goes smoothly, and that the next 8 months pass quickly so you can get on with your lives here without all this worry.
  • I hope you do plan to go to your MP, and maybe try to get some local backing from the press as well...though not the Daily Mail!

I for one wish you the best of luck, and will follow your story.
