I'm an immigrant too - UK in Spain - and you and your husband sound like just the kind of people who are a pleasure to welcome to the UK, hard-working and willing to adapt. I live in a city that is very international, and IMO a multi-cultural enviroment is a rich tapestry (yes, I do speak Spanish!). Your English is better than many natives, actually!
I don't really have any practical advice, just moral support. I've built my life here, so I can understand how devastating it would be for you to leave.0 -
Hopefully when Head Office find out today how important the certificate is, they will issue it immediately. What a nightmare though - I am keeping everything crossed for you that it works out. xx0

Please don't think we are anti immigrants, myself and the majority of friends and family i know only get upset and angry with the immigrants who come here for a free ride, make no attempt to work and expect it all to be given to them on a plate. You both sound like hard working people, good luck in the future.0

It sounds like they do really want your DH to work for them so I'd say you have a pretty good chance of the firm smoothing the way. Try not to worry in the meantime!0

Just wanted to add my moral support here. You sound like real assets to our country and I hope you can work it out.
I haven't a clue about how this can be sorted, but there seems to be plenty with good practical advice here. I would just add, keep ringing, don't wait too long for a call back and do contact your MP.
And keep posting here for support, that alone may help relieve some of the extremely understandable stress.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I just wanted to wish you and your husband the best of luck - hope it gets sorted soon, *crosses fingers*.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I don't have anything practical to add, but I didn't want to read and run.
Good luck, and I hope for the best possible outcome for you.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
so this is what happens when people try to do things the right way. No wonder some go to ground or take cash in hand jobs.0

Easy, just quit your job, get a bleeding-heart group behind you and a government funded lawyer. Lie and say that someone (doesn't matter who) is planning on killing you if you return to India (you don't need proof).
Then, you'll get a free house, plenty of money each week and you can work on the side without ever paying taxes.
British bureaucracy does not want honest, nice people who intend to work and pay taxes - but they are happy enough to take in any criminal who plans on milking the state because they make up a sob story that fits EU regulations.
You picked the wrong way to come in I'm afraid!
P.S. my personal opinion comes from working in immigration on the side of asylum seekers.I've been making animations for my daughter. Tell me what you think? Search for "Where are you Pickles?" and "Pickles and the Bully" on YouTube.
