  • Hi Guys,
I'd really like to join as circumstances are dire at the moment here- I'm to chicken to work out my debts etc tonight but will bite the bullet tomorrow... poke me if I don't! I think they're at about £15000 not including student loan... eek!
Ways I plan to make the money: Kleeneze -a friend from my knitting club is with it and has been for years, and she does really well from it, plus there are no distributers in my area= score!
    Etsy/craft fairs/car boots/anywhere I can sell hand made stuff!
I also do a lot of artwork and was wanting to try and sell this, but not quite sure where the best outlet is- any ideas?
Also, also, am thinking about matched betting- has anyone tried this? is it really complicated?
Finally also, I may also look for a part time job, but really I would like to avoid this as I hate working set hours..... and I do enough of that already- but only till June! wooo
  • this should be the perfect challenge for me - last month my partner and I agreed that 2010 will be renamed '20-10k - the year of the loft'! We are saving to convert our loft into a usable space and agreed that as we need another £10K, that should be our target:eek:. I'm slightly having kittens thinking about how we'll make it, considering that we managed to only save about £1,300 this year! So would love to join in and hope to get some really good tips from all you other MSE'rs!:money:

  • Congratulations on your first post lookingtothefuture, have you tried looking at the 'up your income' section on the main site? Its got lots of good advice. The make £10 per day thread is also good to take a nosey at too. I would put links but im not sure how to.... perhaps someone a bit more advanced in this computer-tinterweb-thingy-me-bob will come along and post them?

Hi Sally, Thanks for your suggestion. I have been lurking around these forums since May trying to get some good ideas. I started with Ebay and wasn't very successful... as in not at all, nothing sold! so was terribly disappointed. However in my desperation to get as much debt gone before baby arrives (helped by the fact that I have been cleaning and tidying and getting sorted) I came across some other items which I listed and have made a grand total of £11.48 on!:j not a great deal I know but every little helps! So in the new year I am going to continue on my e-bay listing campaign as I have a whole loft of stuff to clear! I have found some of the threads really motivational however a lot of people keep close to their chests how they are going to raise the extra cash! lol! and I need as much help as possible! In the summer I am going to try and get a paper round or do leaflet dropping etc something I can do and take the baby with me. It will also help move some of this baby fat from my bum! (no-one tells you that you grow at the back as well as the front do they?! lol!) and will therefore save me money in gym membership.

I am going to have another sneaky peak at the Up your income thread though and see if I can get any more tips from there. Thanks for your help:D

    Hi all

COngrats Lookingtothefuture, bet you can't wait now.

Nope! I am getting to the stage of being a bit fed up in all honesty! lol! I just want my baby... but am trying to distract myself and be productive by starting my challenge now!... I hope I don't get disqualified for starting too early! eek!

    Hi Jenny,
I can't really speak about any of the other things you were talking about but I can highly recommend that you take some time to have a look at matched betting.
I've been doing it on and off for a couple of years now and would say that starting from scratch you could quite easily make a couple of thousand pounds over a year.

Even now that I've done most of the easy offers and don't spend a huge amount of time on it I usually manage to make between £50 - £100 a month.

Go on over to the Gambling Introductory Loopholes board and have a good look at the 'How To' sticky thread. You'll probably need to read it a few times before it starts to make any sense, I know I did but it's well worth it!

  • Is it ok to have already started or should I have waited till the 1st? I have only been doing this a couple of days and have already closed off one small credit card that was charging a whopping 22%APR...Only 8 more debts or 99% of my debts to go ... LOL!!

One thing I have noticed is that all the credit cards I have, have increased their APRs to 22-24% this month. Is this just me or have others noticed that as well? It just makes me more determined to get them all paid and not to spend on them again. I am so sad that I have figured out that I am spending £70 a month on interest payments alone.. this is money that could have been lining my pockets and not the C/C companies.

Hope everyone is doing well with this..

    Hi everyone

Been thinking how on earth amI going to do this!!!

I have a few ideas for me as a second job is not an option as OH works all sorts of hours and I don't have the sort of job that I can get any overtime or get full time work. So it will have to be ebay/car boots/charity shops/jumbles and any savings on bills, food etc . I have been sorting out some bits to put on ebay and trying to get organised so that I can upload after xmas so that things finish around 1st Jan to get started.

Anyone finished Christmas shopping yet ? Have a few more bits to get and then that's it. But just need to write loads of Christmas cards and get them posted off :rudolf:
