My 2010 total was 1500/7000 to start with (I didn't start on £0!)
Howver changed my targets so better to use these.
aim was £5000, started as 1500/5000 and ended 5000/5000. Saved either £3500 or the full £5000 depending on how you want to do it
I've joined the 2011 challenge too... am a student so targets changed slightly. Still no house but will get there one day.
