    Hi Amatheya.

I have apdated my sig to reflect were i will be at when we start on Jan 1st. I already had the savinings put by and am going to try and offset that starting amount in extra savings on the target savings amount. I am lookings forward to it. My wife thinks its crazy but if we want to start saving for a house/ my "toy car" and a trip to DisneyLand (pour le petits mois) then she is going to have to put up with it.

Its gone a bit qiuet on here recently. I hope everone is still up for the challenge?

Any of you lot had any ideas about increasing your income/reducing your outgoings during this 12 month challenge?
Was in debt £23k- Not now (12/07-12/10):T

I am not perfect but everyone loves a trier don't they??:A
  • ooooh, can i join? :D

I have $7,000 in debt... but there will be interest too

And anything else could go into much needed savings and investments! :A
LBM - June 2014 DFD Goal: June 2016 (28th Bday!)
    Car: [STRIKE]-$13,109.06 [/STRIKE] -$12,221.26
    Amex: [STRIKE]-$7,154.38 [/STRIKE] -$8,000.00
    M/C: [STRIKE]-$3,172.73 [/STRIKE] -$3,034.50
    Overdraft: -$2,500

  • At first I thought that I didn't need a challenge this big since I dont have quite as much debt as many people here... but who am I fooling! When I add in the things I'll need to budget for next year (visa, partners 30th, and so on) as well as the fact that the pound is rubbish at the moment and is inflating my debts (which are in dollars), 10k is really very conservative!

So here we go! My plan is -

    1. Keep up current standing order that pays 600 a month to debt
    2. Fill ISA with anything left at the end of the month
    3. Maybe start a diary with the new year for support from MSErs? hmmm...

    Thanks for starting! Updating sig

  • I'm still up for it! I've made a few small payments so I'm £175 down already (cheating a bit by starting but I know I'm not the only one! ;) )

Looking forward to making a dent in our debts together, although I have no idea how I'm going to raise the extra capital yet, ha ha! Thinking caps on!

im also still up for it, but im not starting til jan.
so much for me only having just under 5k from jan 1st, i just had a garage bill for nearly £1600, so im looking at under 6k starting, so aiming for that, and the rest 4k in savings.
i will post the actual amounts in jan
If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

  • I know what I'm like, if I don't start straight away I'll never start  Although on second thoughts maybe just before Christmas is not the best time to decided to record how much I'm paying off

Hopefully next year I'll make a bit of money from my freelance illustration. I've also got lots of stuff that I've slowly been selling on ebay. Appart from that I'm not sure where the money will come from. Anyone got any ground breaking ideas on how to make additional cash???
  • I'm still up for it. Only just making little payments at the moment - but every little helps!! There's talk of redundancies at work again so the more I can pay off and the faster the better! Love seeing what everyone else has paid off - it's really encouraging!

    Debt: £799.21/£10500
    Savings: £0 / £9500
  • Have just had a cheque from music magpie for some old cds and dvds. It was about £45.00. Not exactly groundbreaking but once it's cleared it can go off my debt. Also if you go through quidco to do music magpie you get cashback - so extra bonus!!

I did see a programme yesterday about a website called Internet Eyes. It's similar to crime watch, except you watch a live feed of a CCTV camera and if you spot a crime you report it. If you report a crime you can get cash rewards - a possibility to help clean up our streets whilst making a bit of money? (not really sure how it works!).

Other than that, I guess I'll be routing around to see what I can ebay, maybe do some babysitting, overtime if I can - bit stumped for other ideas!
