I don't know if you guys have started already or are waiting until the end of Dec, but by the looks of it, I will hopefully have knocked £500 off my debt by new year (have done some extra work which I will get paid for in the last week of Dec, just before payday so that will go straight off credit card!) Not sure how I can keep it up, going to keep up with free scratchcards, try some competitions (although I am not very lucky!) and ebay, carboot etc although again I don't know what!!

Hope all is well and you all have a good couple of days :)

  • I'd like to join too if that's ok? I have around £8,000 to clear and £2,000 to pay towards our wedding, so that would be perfect! :D

Ooh I'm looking forward to this, what a challenge it will be! x
Mortgage when started (Dec 2013): £157,272.50
    Current mortgage (date): £156,885.56
    Mortgage free day: Dec 2043
  • I was recently given a full and final offer from Lloyds - pay £5,600 and we'll waive the extra £4,300. Unfortunately I couldn't take them up on this, but if I save hard I might be able to do something similar by September. Effectively clearing £10,000 of debt.

Would this count in the spirit of this challenge, and could others think along similar lines?

I do recognise my debt and my obligation to pay it back, but if banks are willing to reduce the amount I owe, I am too happy to take them up.

    my plan...

i'm gonna update my sig and will prob do the same as Shady and save up so I can pay off in a lump sum (theoretically). I've picked the worst year to do this...wedding, honeymoon, friend's wedding in cyprus, about 5 hen dos....hmmm...

Think I'm gonna get myself on the increase your income forum for some inspiration!

  • Hiya,

How's everyone doing? Has anyone else started yet?

I've been at the calculator again... Did a payment prediction for my debt (Like a snowball calculation but a little more accurate) I find it good to know when my debts will be paid as a worse case sinario. My worse debt, my loan which costs me over £350 per month, will be paid in 3 years and 3 months. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to the day when I don't have that chunk of money comming out of my account anymore!
