Hi all,
I'm brand new here and having been made redundant last year my debts, despite taking advice etc are now starting to cause me sleepless nights so it's time to start giving them a big kick so I'd like to try and get in on this one, I'm aiming for a 10K overpayment this year as a minimum.
Not quite sure how I'll do it but I'm determined to try and thought this would be a great place to start

You have inspired me (or shamed me!) into working how much I really owe on credit cards and think it will be approx £34kI am equally sick of the total misery this causes & although it's going to be incredibly tough I want to really challenge myself to get this debt down so I can enjoy life again! Like you I also hammered credit cards at uni & how I wish I hadn't!! Also wish they han't been as easy to get as a bag of sweets though!
As a total newbie (joined about 5 mins ago!) I'm not sure how this all works really, but please can I be added to your list?!
Much courage to all you brave debt banishers...... :T

Hello to the new joiners.:hello:
Well done for confronting the debt. It looks scary at first but it really is much easier than you think it will be and there are people on here who have higher debts, or have had higher debts and paid them off.
I'm sure I am not the only one who not only sees a small amount of effort going a long way, but actually is enjoying the challenge.
Plus it is good for the soul to be doing something towards tackling it, no matter how small.

Congratulations - that is a fantastic achievement and I'm really pleased for you.
I can't quite believe I am writing this (and I assure you I'm not trying to do any kind of "oneupmanship" Banwa) but I have just paid £3,000 off my Halifax credit card. A lot of this came from a previous landlord paying up who I had taken to court for not returning my deposit (I've wittered on about this in my DFW diary if anyone is interested in the story), but I also got an unexpected bonus at work this week. All things being well I'll also be in the 13 thousands at the end of March. :j

WM x xHi!
I am very quiet at the moment... it's because I am not doing so well with the saving. Hoping to update at the end of the month, but my total isn't particulary impressive lol. Have made a bit on ebay this month, will wait til I can transfer out of paypal before counting.
Hope everyone else is ok - well done to those who have reduced their debts by a HUGE amount this week!

Arggg this is what got me into the mess I am in, help help help, someone tell me I don't need a new telly!

Oh no Peetzil - I know exactly what you mean - I got a bit obsessed with buying a new TV a couple of years ago - once the momentum got going i spent every spare minute finding the cheapest Sony shiny I could find and i ended up spending the inevitable tons of cash I didn't have on credit card to get it and then regretting it!
