nottoobadyet and victoriaplum1 - I hope that your OHs find work soon.

I have some good news - my OH has just accepted a new job offer. It is a payrise for him, a step up the career ladder, and also has share options which I don't quite understand. He seems v excited about it, which is good, and the extra money will be great for the challenge although I'm not sure how much we'll see after tax and other deductions. He also may have to get a new car - ours is a 16 year old micra and might not stand to the daily commute (it is not accessible by public transport). Anyway, thought I would share this good news with you.

Nothing to report on debt payments from me but we have at last booked a honeymoon! (Married last October)

Was very pleased to pay the £546 deposit out of my savings, no credit spending for a change. :j Just need to save the rest now . . .:o

Well done - must be a lovely feeling to be able to pay out of your hard earned savings - i am sure your honeymoon will be the better for it - hard work to save the rest of the money but I am sure it will be worth every Penny.

It just makes me realise all this money going out to pay my debts could have been going into savings (and maybe the odd little treat) if only I had been more sensible all these years. Roll on the day when I become debt free

  • I can only update my signature once a month since all my bills are paid mid month and was really looking forward to seeing those figures going down - however, after last months crisis with the laptop going caput and the additional repair expenses for washing machine and car it doesnt look too good :(

The inevitable spend on my credit card meant that my totals went up by quite alot, I cant bring myself to reduce 10k in 2010 because afterall i have spent all that money trying to reduce my debt even though my total debt has only gone down slightly.

On the positive side my total debt keeps going down (even if its slowly)! And at least now I am more aware of how easily unexpected expenditure can crop up - looking on here it seems the rest of you guys have had your fair share of the unexpected but we are a resilient bunch so here's to us:beer: May our debt free day come sooner than we think!

Congrats on the honeymoon booking. Where are you going and when?

We're off to Tuscany for a week at the end of August. A little extravagant but you only honeymoon once (fingers crossed! :o). Have looked into a day trip to Florence and a day to Pisa while we're there so should be busy but can't wait.

Was so so pleased to pay the deposit like that. Got two months before balance due though. Eek!

I've just paid £200 off my credit card and put £83 into savings for honeymoon. OH has paid £75 on his credit card which takes my new combined total £3245.27!! :j

However... as I have actually now spent £546 out of savings should I take that off my total...?!? Hmmm.... :p

I am also having a better week this week. Loan payment out yesterday £158 and paid £200 off credit cards. Can't update signature yet as can't get into my spreadsheet (and feel a bit lost_pale_) as although I have paid this, one of my credit cards had £50 more on it than I thought....grrrr

Anyway I'm pretty sure it will bring the total debt to below £15k. Sooooo pleased. I hope to have it in the £13k + something before the end of the month. Should make up for my poor performance in February.

I know I keep going on, gushing and congratulating everybody but I can't believe what a difference this site is making plus a little bit of effort. At new year I thought we would always be in debt and paying it off forever, we were living payday to payday and scraping the money (and sometimes borrowing) for bills almost every week. Now we never have that panic, we're in control and every week there is money left over, which we can put towards the debt that I love watching shrink by the day. :j

With you all the Banwa, on the shared love and appreciation of the support from everyone and on the feeling of happy that comes with paying off debts.

Bad news report from me, I had an accident in my car last night and hadn't realised until speaking to insurance today that I would be responsible and will ahve to pay my full excess of £475. :eek:

I completely agree with your sentiments Banwa and congrats on doing so well this far.

I just noticed that both you and I had our LBM at the same time and roughly at about the same amount. Hopefully your progress will motivate me to keep up (and maybe vice versa). I totally agree with the feeling in control statement. The last three months I have stayed within my OD limit and budgeted for all the bills I received. Last year I was overspending 2 out of 3 months and big bills always ended up on my credit cards. :o. The feeling of being in control is wonderful.
