days out with the kids when you plan take food etc and then the ice cream van arrives or there will be something that costs to do.
It is so hard just to have a day out in a park with a picnic without it costing, it is always Dh who wants to buy them too !!!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 102
Proud to be dealing with my debts

hi all,
I resent paying for work clothes, buying them in the first place, dry cleaning them and shoe reheeling (after wearing them for one week!). I now leave my work shoes in my desk draw and wear my trainers to and from work, doesn't look very attractive but certainly saves on reheeling costs.
Also work lunches, if I have to go on "team lunches" then pay for them!Saving for an early retirement!0 -

7. when invited to important (DFW) birthday of mine: "sorry, with the wedding and baby we just can't afford to come..." It's a bbq, at my parents, bring a bottle, all food provided jobby, 3 month's notice.
Aaaaarggghhh, sorry to rant but this is still a bit of a sore subject.Saving for an early retirement!0 -
I don't believe in regrets.
We do what we do for a reason and as long as we learn from our mistakes, then mistakes are quite forgiveable - and we have to forgive ourselves, if no-one else does.
I think regrets add to the burden and guilt (sorry, I realise it's kind of a light-hearted question!!!

Sorry to hear that Imelda!! (((hugs))) - have you had the BBQ or is it soon? I cant believe some friends just dont make the effort - even if they turned up with a homemade cake or something? Some people are just rude    !!0 -
Tropical Fish when they die so quickly! I know not an essential item, but we buy one new fish for our tank every month. Bought an Angel Fish on Sunday for £4.95 and it died in an hour or two! So we put it in the freezer and took it back for a new, live one. Have champagne tastes...but got a beer budget!!:beer:0

i soooooooooooooooooooooo can relate to this i live just outside Zone6 and for a monthly travel card from where i live to where i work is £95 a month!!!! :mad:But the next station down is the last stop in zone 6 and a monthly ticket from there cost £30 to where i work  ive timed the journey between these two stationns and its 3 and a half minutes!!! so i get a monthly ticket from the station thats inside zone 6 and chance me arm. (yes i knwo there is going to people on here that dont agree with what im doing but i fully resent paying £65 more a month because i live 3 1/2 by train outside zone 6Mrs_Sparkle wrote:My favourite things are: no conductor on the train so no ticket to buy
) Although must admit in the year and a bit ive been doing this ive only been stung once for the £20 fine. So i fully resent paying ridiculous prices for train fares!! Savings Total so far for 2023: £8,062.580 -
