How do you plan to pay for the remaining £2k"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Then that's what you owe.
How do you plan to pay for the remaining £2k
I think he thought the extra 2K was taken care of by the scrappage allowance.
What we need to know is what was the price on the windscreen of the car or if new, the list price. Then we need to know what conversations took place, and what he was expecting to pay & why.0 -
Is the full price (on the road) of the car £10,000 or £12,000 less scrappage allowance, what is the make and model of the car and have you took delivery yet? All these are simple questions and very easy to answer.

I'm really confused by all of this.
Did your dealer not go through the paperwork with you? Did he give you the paperwork? Can you check it
When I bought my car through the scrappage scheme the dealer went through all the paperwork and as I look at it now it clearly states list price, dealer discount, government scrappage contribution, manufacturer scrappage contribution and the final price I paid. My advice is check your paperwork as it should all be clearly laid out for you to see including what you should have paid. If the final price is 10k then leave it. If the final price is 8k then0 -
Every time I have bought a car and paid the balance by direct debit it has had to get authorisation from the bank even though the money was in. At the garage they call the bank and I have to speak to them and answer some security questions. The salesman told me the first time I had to do it that that is always the case when you are paying over £3k (might have been 4) by debit card. I've had to do that for my last 3 or 4 cars0
