They may well have known the answer but it's clear the salesperson didn't or was prepared to mislead them before buying, it speaks realms as to the kind of service they will get should anything be wrong with or befall the appliance being considered, had the question not been asked then this fact would not have been readily apparent and to the detriment of the customer at a later date. Ok, so here's a question for MSE'ers.
If when dealing with the Manufacturer instead of the retailer, they replace the faulty product, like for like or with a reconditioned item (as in the case of consoles)
Has the consumer then waived his rights with the retailer under SOGA for any fault that occurs with the replacement item?
