    Based on what?
Whats your 500 quid based on ?

Or dont you like anyone elses opinion ? you intellectual git.

I still think the price is high, if you would pay that price fair enough, but I would not.

Just have an unmarked grave and put these masons out of business.

Lets hope they dont throw any lime over you too so you stink up your back garden.

I worked it out to around £38 per word and im sure there would be words like 'loving' & 'daughter' & 'Mother' in there so there are quite a few letters to be carved so working out an average of 5 letters per word thats around £7 per letter which i reckon is quite cheap.

What do you mean "your 500 quid"? I've not said anything about a price, I originally just asked what the "rip-off" comment was based on, as I don't really know much about the business and I thought it might be interesting to know what the council/mason/funeral home do to justify the price, and how it's broken down.

You were then quite rude when I asked (remember the "to dense" [sic] comment?) and haven't been able to really add anything constructive to the argument.

Your approach here (based on your opinion which, if it were written on paper probably wouldn't be worth wiping my backside on quite frankly) on the matter seems to go as follows:

    1) You think £500 seems a lot of money and shout about how much of a "rip-off" it is.
    2) You can't explain why you think this though, as you know nothing about the subject.
    3) You sort of guess that £300 would be appropriate.
    4) Still can't explain why, though, as you still know nothing about the subject.
    5) If anyone asks you about how you reach the figure, be offensive - that'll put them off the scent.
    6) Happily for you, being offensive is one of the few things you do know anything about. That'll be useful, then, as people get confused as to why you actually bothered opening your mouth in the first place when you're clearly so ignorant regarding the subject.

Thing is, I've plenty of respect for others' opinions when they're intelligent and know something about the subject - I did, after all, originally want to learn from others here! - but as I've said, your muddled, rude "opinions" offer nothing to this thread and you have spent the most of the afternoon just making yourself look very silly indeed.

If it's a choice between "intellectual git" and your know-nothing, add-nothing approach, I'll stick where I am, thanks :)

    lol
  • Reading the reply's to my original posting it obviously prevoked some heated comment. The term rip off was my first thought, perhaps I should have said "gosh this is jolly expensive". this is the break down of the expense.
    Erecting and fixing... £210.
    Inscription...£204.40.
    Disbursement
    to Hither Green Cemetery.....£59.00.
    vat..£62.16
    Total.... £535.56.
My main vent is this £59.00 payable to the local Council, we already payed once for the original grave, why again? maybe it goes towards the upkeep of the graves (which is not very good at all )

Honestly, I don't think you've been ripped off at all. 200 quid for the inscription seems very reasonable; perhaps the £59 to the council is a bit OTT, but I suppose they have to raise funds somehow and they are all trying to keep council tax down.£500 doesn't go far these days when it involves skilled and semi-skilled labour.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
