compakt you are such a silly billy. £300 for 14 WORDS sounds very cheap to me given that stone masonry is a highly skilled craft and 14 words would probably take them the best part of a day to carve and then gild. not to add transport costs and re-fixing of the grave..

I think we ought to remember that youre not only paying for two men to go and pick a headstone up, put letters on it etc.

Your paying towards the rent of the building, the van, the insurance, the computer, the secretary, the pen,the pad, the postage, repairs, renewals,
etc, etc, etc.

Cremation should be compulsory.

Actually I think that this was a very fair price, given the work and skill involved. Engraving stone is an intricate craft and takes years of training. Being a money-saver doesn't mean not being prepared to pay properly for expertise and quality.
