fair enough - they are a local company to where I live, so I have heard of them, and trust them also.... but just because you hear tiscali mentioned all the time on tv, radio, and newspaper adverts - doesn't mean they are always great.... think the expression is, bigger isn't always better... and normally smaller companies tend to help customers more..... naturally this is my opinion, but 99% of the time it has been right for me0 -
Since the front page changed to orange our broadband wont always connet we never had a problem before and it also seems slower not just a bit either we can be waiting a minute for a page to download used to be almost instant and as i said we have changed nothing just the homepage changed form wanadoo to orange so i really do want to cancell if they carnt do something for me:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

blighter wrote:Thanks for the tip but I'm very happy with the service from Wandoo/Orange - I've never had any problems with it and it is fast enough for my needs. I just resented paying too much for it. I did see other firms offering cheaper services but I'd never heard of them and want to stay with someone I trust.
I called earlier and the guy I spoke to said he'd downgrade me to £14.99. I was on 1.1mb for £17.99 for ages. He said he'd put me on £14.99 a month for the basic up to 2GB package. I don't use the internet a lot, might hammer it for a day and then not go near for ages, except the odd half an hour here or there. Billing next month should be for £14.99 only.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
i Rang them up and ask to be put through to someone who can discuss ending your contract. They will probably ask why and try and give you some reasons for staying, but just keep asking to be put through to someone else. When they did this, i just explain to the person over the phone that i have been paying £17.99 a month and due to the recent Talk Talk package launch have realised that this is way too much money and no longer competitive. Ask what they can do to reduce the price as otherwise your off. They immediately tried to do something, ofered me one or two months free of charge. said no and in the end he offered me the broadband max package for £17.99 including free calls and a live box. also said i wasn't under contract (meaning i can cancel if i really want)
here's the best bit. dunno if you realised but you need a special piece of hardware for your pc to go wireless and it costs £40 from orange! didn't realise so when the package cam i phoned them and told them i wasn't aware of this (i was sort of) and defeated the object so threatned to cancel again. she offered one months free subscription which i refused. she then said let me speak to my bosscame back and said they'd send a free one

i've been with freeserve almost since it started, now on orange with livebox. i've always paid for the max service. tried 3 times now to get a better deal on the phone asking for the max service with a £30 orange mobile, and no go!! told no-one gets this!! waaaaa
aaagh! i guess i have the wrong approach! never ever had any free months. threatened to leave and got sent my MAC code! will try again using script on here, but i guess i'll end up paying the 27.99 + £10 for the phone!

I have been banging my head against a brick wall with orange for the past few weeks. My phone contract with them expired on 31st July, we have been with the freeserve/wanadoo/orange broadband for years @ £17.99 a month. It seemed to make good sense to upgrade to a £30 a month tariff on a new contract to get the free broadband. I also wanted a new handset as I knew I would have to sign up for 18 months. I went to Carphone Warehouse at Cheshire Oaks, they could give me the Motorola v3i handset that I wanted free, but when they phoned up orange, orange wouldn't let me have the broadband free unless I went via them
Orange on the phone were out of stock of the phone, if they had it in stock they wanted £100 for an upgrade. The Orange shop also wanted £100 for an upgrade but I could have the phone free if I signed up as a new customer. I have had to do this, change my mobile number. Needless to say they are 'having computer problems' on the broadband line so I haven't been able to merge my broadband yet - I have that pleasure to come
As I had to give 30 days notice to cancel my original orange contract, I now have two phones running for the next 28 days.

Hi all - just called Orange / Wanadoo, been with them on 2mb broadband package for a while.
Tiold them I was unhappy at costs for what I was getting, and wanted to leave (been looking at other providers, this wasnt just a bluff).
Offered me Max service (up to 8mb, no downlaod limit) and free livebox for £17.99 (current price), but said there was a new contract (12 months) - negotiated that down to six months, and got them to waive the £20 speed upgrade cost.
Happy bunny!

Is 8 meg available on your line, that's what they told me but mine only surrports up to 2mg!
I've found wannado an awful company to deal with, you speak with one call centre assistant who tells you one thing, you then call back and they deny all knowledge of the previous call!0 -
It wont be 8mb, im not close enough to exchange, but should go up to 4 or 5 mb (my neighbours are able to get that speed).
Never had a problem with Wanadoo - always been good, but then havnt had to call them really, as nothing has ever gone wrong, or if it has, ive been able to resolve it without calling.
Spose everyone has different experiences with all the ISPs!

Orange seems to be going on a go slow here. I have been investigating, and we seem to be on 1mg for £17.99 per month, but we could upgrade to 2mg for £17.99per month for a one off fee of £20! Also, I did a speed test, and we seem to be only getting 0.5 mg
Speed Test Results
Downstream 549.3 Kbps ( = 0.5 Mbps )
Upstream 231.1 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )
I have done all the things they say to try and speed things up. I think a phone call is in order. I definitely don't want to pay £20 to have things changed - I don't know how we ended up on 1mg anyway, I am sure we were on 2mg. Would they have changed it when Wanadoo became Orange?Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j0
