OH and I are planning a second child so going to start trying end of Dec/Beginning Jan. So the baby should be born End Sept/Beg Oct. My DD will be 2 1/2 then. She is currently in a cot bed, still with the sides on. Do I leave her in her cotbed and buy the new baby a cot/cotbed or shall I buy DD a new bed as a way of saying she's a big girl now and the baby wanted to buy her a new bed and use the cotbed for the new baby?
What would/have you personally do/done?

Could she get to choose the new bed? Is it possible to move her into the new bed before the new little one comes along?0

Personally i bought my daughter a big girl bed and gave her cotbed to her new baby sister. Then i did the same with my second daughter with my son. However he is slower than the girls were and wont be ready for a big boy bed by the time Noah arrives in feb so I will be buying a cot for him. Go by your child, but if you are going to try, make sure and do it well before new baby arrives, can be very hard on a child when a new sibling arrives and best they are settled in a good routine by then to help them feel secure.:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0

But if you were to, I would buy a new big girl bed and keep the cot bed, you will have to buy a big girl bed eventually anyway, so you might aswell, it will save you the cost of a new cot/cot bed.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -

Yeah of course it is, but the fact I fell pregant whilst on the pill with DD, I stand a fairly good chance.
It just depends if OH has good or bad swimmers. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
Wait until you're pregnant first. Then wait until you are seven months pregnant. And then ask again.
There are so many things that could happen in the meantime that it's not something that requires even remote consideration right now."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Fine - but surely your time would be better spent planning more relevent things than some arbitrary bed situation that may not even arise?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
