Nice one Matt. I am picking mine up this afternoon.0

Lucky!!! I could have had a Zetec to be honest within a week as they had 1 in stock but obviously the titanium price... which is what I was originally in the market for anyway was too good to miss!!!!
I have got a VIN number, but its only 11 characters long and it needs to be 17 for the ford ETIS thing. I was told they would get the remaining characters when it comes out of the plant.
I was told today that they are trying to push my car over here quicker so I get it for the end of the month so I dont have to pay any more payments on my car.0 -
Right, with the VIN, you need to add some characters at the start. Give me a sec and I can try and work it out for you0
-
OK, try adding this before the 11 digitis you have
WF0JXX
Basically, WF0 is for Ford cars. The J is for 5 door (use G for 3 door). The XX are unused. Then, your 11 digit chassis number that you have.
Should work.0 -
Nah I already have that. I dont have the end bits.0

Ah. Oh well. I think we are going way off topic here, so apologies to the OP.0

Actually sorry, just looked I didnt have the start bits. Even so its still saying no information could be found.
Yup bit off topic! Sorrreehh!!0 -

It's a personal thing - are you willing to pay a 25% or so premium for a new car? I'd say in my case no, rather save £3k or so or go for a top of the range model rather than the base one for the same price. A new car might smell nice but you're also likely to have niggly little faults appear in the first few months. The ideal solution IMHO is to buy a car a few months old so you still get the warranty and save a load of money too AND it will still smell like new
Has to be in excellent condition with FSH if applicable too!:A0 -
felineprincess, can I ask what part of the country your in? Are you in the Midlands or near?
Dont forget the deals that have been done on here with regards to the Zetec. For a 1.25 Petrol 5door with metallic paint you dont want to be paying any more than £10,800.
For a 5 door edge with metallic paint I wouldnt want to be spending any more than £9k
I will be wanting to get diesel which will up the cost a bit, although I only want 3 doors so there is a small saving there. I live in north wales so the midlands are about 2 and a half hours away and north west is a bit closer. I don't mind travelling so will phone around both areas.
I think I want to get the 1.4 tdci 3 door zetec with metallic paint and automatic lights and wipers (£100). The best price I have found online is 10,681.71 - this isn't including the paint and extras. Does anyone think I could expect to get a better price then this or just match it?
Those who have had good deals, how long did it take from start to finish?0 -
That diesel OTR, without paint or extras is £13,495. If you take the approx 20% discount off that seems to be available, then £10,681 is about right. You will be able to get a dealer to match that, with a bit of pushing.
Where is that from? Do check there are no extra costs on that like delivery or admin fees. Although, dont mention those to the dealers when you are calling
One thing though. The 1.4 diesel is not supposed to be very good. The 1.6 is better, but still not great. Do you do the miles to justify the diesel?0
