I would rather have a car that nobody has farted in yet :rotfl:

Only kiddin. I would much rather pay a bit more for a brand new one. Its a sense of feeling that you get with a brand new car in the sense that its yours, and its only ever been yours. You know where its been, and you get a full 3 year warranty with the opportunity for lots of freebies being thrown in.
  • Matts Titanium. Can you find a cheaper pre-registered one? Or a mint secondhand one that beats his deal?

If I find out, then I would have to kill. Simple as.
  • Or worse follow through.

My mate just bought a brand new octavia scout cheaper than a second hand one.

Apparently for whatever reason there is a shortage of second hand motors.
Sometimes you get what you deserve... :cool2:

  • Thanks everyone for your replies!
I was recently looking to buy a secondhand car but found there were very few cars available.

This is exactly what I'm finding, it seems I would need to spend about 8 thousand on what is now an old model car which would have cost about 11 thousand when new. I know the old models are still popular at the moment but in about 4 years time when I want a new car I'd imagine they will be much less desirable as they will be lots of 4-5 yr old new shapes about. It just feels to me that the very few diesel fiestas about with low milage are expensive compared to the new ones.

I have heard that now is a bad time to buy a used car as due to credit crunch more people are wanting to buy used so the garages are selling them for more to compensate for less people buying new - I don't know if this is true just something someone told me.

I am seriously considering buying new or pre-reg, I'm just reluctant to part with more money ;)

    Then show me?

Had dificulty finding a pre-reg or even second hand car cheaper than I got my new Fiesta Zetec too.
  • The only advantage in buying new as against "almost new" is snob value.

    That's not meant to offend.

Buy at about a year old or less. The original owner or garage will have taken the hit, had the waranty issues sorted hopefully, leaving you to profit.

    From personnal exp and as you mentioned the Clio;

We bought a 6 month old prereisterd diesel clio fro Direct cars in Sheffield. As sad, 6 months old, demo model, 198 miles on the clock..

How can you go wrong? The car still had 2.5 years waranty, cost 7 k instead of 11K????????

5 years later who cared when we traded it in if it had 1 or 2 previous owners:confused::confused:

    Good luck and take heed/care;)

with the £4k bri saved im sure he was happy to miss out on any apparent freebies?

a pre registered car with under 200 miles equals a brand new car. matt i hope you are not too disappointed when your new fiesta comes with anything up to 350 miles on the clock and is still sold to you as brand new.
most will come with less but some will have covered a fair few miles on trade plates first, 350 miles, i know how many times i can fart covering that distance.

the only difference is a paperwork difference, the pre reistered car has been purchased from the manufacturer by the dealer to hit a sales target and claim a bonus from the manufacturer its been sat doing nothing in a compound next to all the other new cars.
    ...work permit granted!
