I've no more medical history to provide them with....

I'm really angry now and am gonna take this as far as I can....

Mrfrostie that is an unbelievable way to run a back log, so basically if you have a complicated claim that would mean every time they received some more information you would keep being put to the back of the queue.

What it looks like is happening is they rely on old paper files, when their filing lady receives a new piece of post she hunts around the office for the file. Rather than place the letter on the top of the file and putting it back in the same place it was they take it out and put it to the back of the queue, that is a very back ward way of working.

As anyone who has ever used E & L or any one in the industry will tell you avoid E & L at all costs

I feel for you with your problem, never nice fighting a never ending battle with a unhelpful insurer.

These posts should serve as a reminder that people should never just buy an insurance product based on price. The only way to make an insurance product cheaper than your rivals, is to reduce the costs of claims, by not paying out or reducing the cover offered and avoiding claims.
  • I will not give up..... I will take this to the regulator if needs be and very loudly too!!

    Dear SJP

I am the Claims Manager at E&L insurance and I have noted your comments with interest. If you could please contact me I will personally take a look at your case and be happy to fully explain the status of your claim and any action we are taking.

I have noted some of the other postings in reply to your question and I would like to address some of the points raised. As an insurance company in the UK we are regulated by the Financial Services Authority and as such we have to comply with a strict code of guidelines to operate. We issue all our policyholders with policy documents providing full details of the cover on the policy, and we also have a quotes team that are available to answer any questions as policyholder may have with regards to the cover we offer. We make every effort to inform policyholders (either potential or existing) of the options available to them and the cover they have so if they need to claim they are fully aware of what they are covered for.

When processing a claim we always ensure we process the claim in line with our policy wording and we never attempt to avoid paying any claim that meets these criteria. Unfortunately as with all insurance our cover can not cover every eventuality and there are circumstances where we can not pay a claim, but I must stress this is always in line with our policy wording. I am happy to advise that E&L actually have a low rejection rate contrary to what may believed and we pay the vast majority of claim we receive.

I am always willing to listen to any comments in regards to E&L and I welcome anybody who has any questions to contact me at Claims@eandl.co.uk.

    Yours Sincerely

What a load of old bull. Perhaps then you'd like to explain to us all why your company is attempting to do EXACTLY that to the OP by looking for any excuse in the pet's distant past history in order to find a reason not to pay out? Any reputable Pet Insurance Company would have some compassion regarding the death of a much loved pet, but as usual good ole 'Excuses & Lies' are more interested in finding any excuse to find a way out of paying.

How you can even try to justify the disgraceful behaviour of E&L like this is beyond belief.

You of all people know full well that most Vets tell thier customers not to go anywhere near you because you cause them so much aggrovation. You also know just what atrocious reviews your Company gets left right & centre from the tens of thousands of policy holders who have all found out just what a bunch of snakes you really are under your fake 'helpful' exterior.

The truth is you are paid to scrutinise the medical history of every pet you insure to the very finest little detail so that you can find any possible reason to avoid paying out and you use the wording of your policy to your own interpretation, knowing full well that it is in fact written in such a way that you will always have a way out.

Give me an example of ONE single Pet insurance company who will (on the death of a beloved pet) expect a bereaved pet owner to provide them with written proof of the times & dates thier pet was vaccinated 10 years ago? You make damn sure that you set people with a task they can never achieve, then you constantly move the goal posts while you scratch about in the dirt looking for your next 'get out of jail free' card. In fact 'Mr Manager', if you are so keen to convince us of what a wonderful low refusal rate you have then i'd like to set you a little challenge - I challenge you to find me ONE single Pet insurance company who has even a fraction of the epic volumes of bad publicity that you people have got plastered all over the Internet from tens of thousands of dissatisfied customers who have all fallen foul of the conveniently sly wording of your policies which ensures that the odds are always going to be in your favour..

People like you are an embarrassment to the Industry. I wouldn't insure a stuffed duck with you!:mad::mad:

The annoying thing about E & L (There are others) is that the majority of their customers are the type of customers who can least afford to be without the money so it's a double whammy for them.
  • Strangely enough, when i bought my new puppy 3 years ago and registered her with a vet the first thing they asked me was who i was insured with & promptly advised me to avoid having any dealings with a company called 'E&L' because they had a terrible reputation for refusing to pay out. Funny that eh?
