Aldi Soya Milk-Soya Delight-beware
Comments

My gf buys Tesco sweetened soya milk and gets through about 3 cartons a week with cereal. We buy about 20 packs when doing online shopping so it seems to have her seal of approval. The price is usually around 65-70p (depends on Extra or Express store) a litre so not expensive.
I'll second this - Alpro soya is lovely but expensive and this for me is the next best thing, I go though about the same amount with cereal too0 -
I went to aldi today, and they do not sell their own brand any more. They were selling the alpro soya UHT milk at 79p/carton. When we asked the store manager, apparantly this is a temporary replacement.0

Just spoke with Aldi's trading dept on the phone to ask them when if at all the their own brand Soya Delight will be back on the shelves, as was stated in their letter to me, only to be told that the reference made in the letter to "change of supplier and the product had been distributed to the stores", relates to the Alpro product.
Very misleading of them in my opinion and clever of them to be ambiguous in how they worded the letter.
Oh well, as it was only their own brand Soya Delight that made me visit the store and perhaps purchase a few other items during the visit whilst I was there, they are the bigger loosers now as I have no reason to visit their stores any more.
As for Alpro, it's not that bad but at 79p in Aldi, other major supermarkets will if not already, be selling at the same price just to be competitive and as we regularly shop at Morrisons/Tesco/Sainsbury anyway, one of those stores will be getting the money I would have spent at Aldi!
So Aldi, it may only be a fiver a week you're losing in money but more importantly you've lost my faith in your organisation and it's ability to be truthful!0 -
have you considered making your own soya milk?
I bought a good soya milk maker a year or two ago and it has more than paid for itself. Cost about £100, but makes litres of milk for pence.
You can also make rice milk, oat milk and nut milks with it. And even tofu.
I can send you some details if you'd like.0 -
Thanks LW but I looked at this option a few months ago and despite the economic advantages, I chose to stay with store bought soya milk for a variety of reasons. Thanks anyway.0

i do see your point about the letter but wanted to add that i'm actually PLEASED ALDI are now selling alpro.it's a bit cheaper then in other shops and has always been my preferred soya milk, even against the original ALDI "soya delight".it's made me shop in ALDI moe actually cos now i don't have to go elsewhere to pick up my soya milk.0 -
Does soya milk freeze ok, ie what's it like when defrosted again?0

Thanks to a recommendation on this thread I started to use Morrisons unsweetened longlife soya milk-I think it was 63p a litre-and was almost as good as the original Aldi SM. Now this seems to have disappeared too and they only seem to have the Alpro version on the shelves, which I find deeply unpleasant.
Does anyone know if this is a temporary loss?o0 -
I like Tesco's own soya milk (sweetened). I went off cow's milk, although I do eat dairy products. It is inexpensive compared to other well known brands, and tastes good.0
