    Hi all

I was hoping to make an OP of around £1,500 this month (partly thanks to our nearly full terramundi pot) but ended up handing in my notice to my employers yesterday so am now unemployed (although will receive a full month's pay at the end of the month, phew!).

Although I realise that due to having saved hard I'm very lucky that I could hand in my notice rather than stay in a job I wasn't happy in, it has potentially scuppered the OP plans for a while. Gutted I am ;)

Fingers crossed I will find something else that's great relatively quickly and can resume the obsessive OPing ASAP!

    Lady xx

Good luck Lady! xx Hope something comes up pretty soon, like you say this is addictive, l'm already counting down the days to next pay day and next OP....

    Happy moneysaving all.
  • I didn't realise that if I paid my mortgage from my barclays account it paid off immediately - woo!
Another £5 for me today - will fill out your google docs form cake.

I get paid on Friday so I may be able to make another payment before Jan is over!!!
I may have to raid my savings to get another £5 to round up this month's OP to a nice round £300!

Congrats to everyone who's already made an OP - it's scarily addictive - I've only been able to start this year as I've largely finished my renovation project.
Still have an outstanding Parent-Loan to pay though :(

    MFW no. 85 reporting in:

First payment on new offset mortgage was paid today.

They asked for £161.95 - I have paid £249 (tax refund) and £800 (planned payment) so OP by £887.05.

Have also cashed in a Stocks and Shares Isa that we stopped paying into a couple of years ago. It has finally recovered a little, so will pay that off as soon as monies cleared - that should be another £7600.00 off the total.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    The omens are in!

January 2010 has been more eventful than almost the entirety of 2009. The litany of things that have thus far befallen us is ridiculous but we won't be beaten down!

Firstly (my fault) the council tax came out this month - I had mistakenly budgeted for it being January and February as free months but it's February and March - no great harm done there as this will be recovered in the next month but it's scuppered my aim of not going below my optimistic annual £1k buffer. Thereafter, shortly after New Year, the microwave packed up (or stopped turning) - bizarrely, it costs about £15 more to get it turning again than it does to buy a new (and better) microwave so that was an extra outlay. Last night, the computer managed to become infected with all the viruses of the day so that will blow another chunk of money away to replace it and I'm fairly sure, after our latest spring clean, both the cooker and the hoover are on their last legs. We won't be beaten and will, unless this run of luck continues, still meet all our OP targets but 2010 be damned anyway!!

    Cheers,

    Billy

Welcome melly! Well done so far, you're right we have to start somewhere.

wynnvegs: what a pain! as for the internet virus are you using Internet Explorer to surf internet or Mozilla Firefox? Mozilla had far less viruses than IE so worth switching.

    Happy moneysaving all.

    Hello everyone,

Standing order for 280 was set up so that's gone plus I managed to pay another 350 off. Makes it 630 just in first month!!! Great news - my target is only 4000 though as my contract finishes in July and I need to take it into account:-(

    Goog luck everyone!
  • Hi all,

I don't know about anyone else, but I am on count down to payday so I can make another OP - I am addicted! lol.

I have also taken an idea from here and have put it into practice . . . . I now have a mortgage piggy. I have put 6 pound coins in already (to get me started) and have some change that can go in too. I am only 22, but want to get rid of my mortgage as early as I can so that I can travel and have some security by owning the house.

I had a look at the google docs and can't believe how much has been op'd in the 1st month - well done everyone! x
