Evening All
Seems my phobia of reading the gas/elec meters in case I get a big bill (Is there a support group for this?)has had a positive outcome. Its been 4 years since there was anything other than 'estimate' on either of my bills:o. The fear of the bills contributed I'm sure to the savings over time and may go some way to explaining the vaguely blue colour of my children.
Two cheques on the way for a total of £700. :T as of phone call today. Money to add to the OP pot.
Switched from whoever I'm with to someone else too cos comparison site said I should.:o Absolutely no idea whether I have done the right thing but apparently I'll be getting cashback.
Trying really hard to catch up with you guys on MS knowledge, but mostly stumbling around from one happy triumph to another appaling disaster. Still, having fun though.

*rolls in rather late* Happy New Year!
Another one to add to the challenge, please - I overpay by £150 a month by DD, giving me a £1800 year end target. Works the best for me, as it stops me spending the money on less important things, whilst still letting me save for home improvements. If I *ever* manage to get the payrise I should really get, I'll be able to increase this - here's to hoping!
I have a thread here for anyone interested: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1251297

Hi everyone, have sent you a pm cake21 so that i can be added to this challenge.
As you can see from my sig i love challenges. After reading that even a litte overpayment makes a difference, from February i will be making an overpayment of £60 per month. In a way it isn't really an overpayment as i thought my mortgage payment each month was £60 higher than it actually was.
My target is small though its only £660 for the year due to getting married this year and i'm also trying to pay off my CC debts as much as possible. My mortgage is huge so i'll be joining this challenge every year for the next 29 years (actually since im overpaying it may be more like 28!) :rotfl:MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
Hi my target is fairly small compared to some. I have a mortgage of £21000 and would like to overpay by £100 a month. The standing order is already set up. I am also considering cashing in our endowment to be mortgage free by end of 2012.Mortgage Free as of 31/5/11 :j:j:j:j:j:j:j0

Firstly,Thank You Cake21 for accepting my late application. Until the end of 2008 I worked for Woolworths. As you are now doubt aware all employees went through an emotional and financial rollercoaster. 6 weeks later things were looking brighter as I was employed again, strangely enough back in the same office in the same building but for a different company. A year further on I would like to have my mortgage paid off as soon as possible. As it is £21000 I want to cash in my endowment worth £11000 and pay that off leaving a debt of £10000. If I keep my original repayment as it is, overpay by £100 a month and put the endowment payment of £43.32 towards the debt I should be mortgage free by the end of 2012. I will be contacting Standard Life this week to start the ball rolling.Mortgage Free as of 31/5/11 :j:j:j:j:j:j:j0

Hello All,
January Overpayment Total = £200, usual direct debit £160 plus I got £30 cashback from moneysupermarket for swapping my energy supplierso I rounded it up with an extra £10.
I had applied to mark A-level exam papers in the summer to boost OP total, got a letter this week saying I've been accepted onto the list but it depends on number of students entered whether I get any work from it. £10000 target may be a bit ambitious without this extra money. Home renovation still not finished so its tricky to know how much money we'll be able to save/OP this year. However since the past two years have exceeded my expectations OP wise, I decide to set an ambitious target.
Well done to everyone who managed to OP anything in January!2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013
