lol at all of you like me who are obsessing over the next pay day and OP!

February is also only three whole weeks until the next pay day l also won't pay council tax for Feb/March so intend to put those in as OP's

Trouble for me is there are 8 birthdays in our family for those two months  including mine - would it be crass to ask for money and OP those too!

    Happy moneysaving all.

Welcome melly! Well done so far, you're right we have to start somewhere.

wynnvegs: what a pain! as for the internet virus are you using Internet Explorer to surf internet or Mozilla Firefox? Mozilla had far less viruses than IE so worth switching.

    Thanks Sassy,

I'll have a wee look but I work for an IT Consultancy company so the computer is in here today being a) properly sorted and b) loaded with more antivirals than the local GP surgery! With that sorted, I'll have saved the cost of a replacement which is excellent.

For those keeping tabs, the new microwave is miles better than the last one, the cooker has had a wee burst of life to itself so I'm hopeful it can last the claendar year until the mortgage is paid as a new bathroom and kitchen are first on the spend list of January 2011.

As for things breaking in threes, I'm hopeful that the laces snapping on my hiking boots last night can count as my third. Is it too late to revisit my letter to Santa to ask for a hassle-free 2010!?

    Cheers,

    Billy

lol billy bless you! my poor sister has been stopped and fined for no tax (renewed at Christmas and she'd forgot), and her hubby wrote his car off so she's hoping that the 3rd stroke of bad luck doesn't come..... x

well, hubby has just had a cheque for £9 for a mobile phone we traded in and l've had two accounts with the national lottery (l had an old direct debit by POST one, now it's all online they've merged the two) but they are refunding me £20! so just making an OP of £29, like we keep saying every little helps :j

OK - the budgeting is getting serious now - I've moved my phone to a pay as you go. I never really used it enough to justify even a £25p/m contract so £10p/m top up (if I can hark back to the days of being 17 and remember how to top up a phone) with unlimited texts is a winner - every little helps...

*rolls in rather late* Happy New Year! :)

Another one to add to the challenge, please - I overpay by £150 a month by DD, giving me a £1800 year end target. Works the best for me, as it stops me spending the money on less important things, whilst still letting me save for home improvements. :) If I *ever* manage to get the payrise I should really get, I'll be able to increase this - here's to hoping!

I have a thread here for anyone interested: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1251297

    Good work everyone!

I have 9 days before i can make another overpayment! £500 put aside for it!

Need to find £350 to pay the excess on my car insurance! :o but as the accident was completly my fault i cant blame anyone but myself!

Almost finished the decorating now. Spend last night building a wardrobe but gave up at 11 as i had an early start this morning! will get that finished tonight! looking forward to enjoying the house for a few months now rather than working on it!!

Got a letter from NW this week confirming our remaing term after this months overpayments as 12 years 6 months! :j that was a motivation for sure!!!

Now all we all need to do is keep fingers crossed for interest rates to stay low for a bit longer so we can get our outstandings down a bit more!! Is it wrong for me to get a sense of satisfaction in overpaying, not only because its saving us money in the long run but also, because we are giving the banks less profit!!

Come on everyone! January is almost over, February brings a short month and one step closer to spring!
