Made an additional OP of £250 over the phone yesterday and that's it now until next month. My balance has been udpated this morning
Total OP's this month £430.00
Mortgage Balance as of this morn. £40394.74 which I am pleased with but IT'S STILL NOT ENOUGH and I find it most frustrating that I have to spend money on living (not to mention the 2 week holiday in the US next month)
Reduced mortgage term so far by 23 months
Off to update googledocs Cake.
Thanks for the motivation guys0 -
Just made a £100 overpayment for the first time in a couple of months. Decided that for five years not had a proper holiday whilst I was saving for the flat, so need one!!
Money going towards a month in Australia in December! Will overpay as much as possible but doubt will hit the overly optimistic £14,000 target for year one...

I would think that counts as a proper holiday! Have a blast Steve.
Cheers,

Really pleased as I phoned the mortgage provider yesterday and am under 80k, 8 years ago our mortgage was £200k, so not as good as some of the people here but still good!
However ability to overpaid is not good this month as managed to miss a train by 1 min so had to repay the fare on the day (£120!!!). Then found out restrictions on a flight booked meant that if I didn't use the outbound portion of a flight, I couldn't use the inbound portion. I have to pay £130 for a single fare and will get minimum amounts on the cancellation.
Both were caused by my lack of attention to detail so can't really claim back from work. I feel so annoyed (and guilty) as this is a huge amount of money (£250!). Here am I doing money saving little things and then I go and do something like that!
Had to post as I'm too embarassed to admit to the real world I was so disorganised and had to rant somewhere! :mad:0 -

I think that's an amazing achievement - well done!
Feel your pain re the trainfare. Happened to me in March as was travelling with sister and she fell ill during trip and we missed connection by 5 mins. Was only £45 plus an unexpected taxi fare of £20 but it just flipping GRATES on my inner MSE!
You're obviously a busy person - so be a bit kinder on yourself - these things happen and you'll know for next time!
Could you speak to work and perhaps agree a 50/50 split? I approve expenses where I work and I'd go for that for the airfare. I do think they should give you 100% of your railfare. But it depends on the company - some are real sticklers, esp. in the current climate0 -

If it's any comfort narnie1, I've also had to rejig flights once this year due to my inattentiveness (forgot passport). £280 down and I haven't forgotten it since

Mind you - our expenses get passed on to customers so the company doesn't take the hit. If anything they all think I'm really strict and mean!
Last month we had this new guy and I queried a meal he'd had in London for £100.
'Were you entertaining the customer?'
'No I had a nice meal'
Plonker. He'd also booked 2 rooms for the same night and 'neglected' to cancel one. And then there were all the extra-curricular activities he was claiming for in the evenings. 'I was bored' he told me. Should have played Solitare in his hotel room. The amount I refused to play him ended up more than my monthly salary!0 -
Number 95 reporting in for September. Another £1,250 overpaid so on track still to hit target in December.
This thread gets better by the month. People paying off mortgages, people so close to paying off mortgages, people still overpaying with babies on the way (congratulations!) and general good levels of overpayment amongst the gloom and doom. If, or quite possibly when the brown stuff hits the fan I will be even more glad of the sacrifices I am making today so that I can continue to enjoy tomorrow regardless of the general situation. Keep it up everyone.

Number 9 reporting in for September, only managing £50 a month at the moment. Getting DD kitted out for uni is proving to be VERY expensive. I cannot see us being able to up the payment till after Christmas. Nevermind we have exceeded our target for the year.
Well done everyone xMFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13
