JackieO - ((hugs)) funerals are always traumatic.
catowen - you sound full of energy this morning! Enjoy the presentation tonight.
PP - hope your day gets better. Fingers crossed for the holiday plans - are you going to Filey? I spent most of my child hood holidays around Filey & Bridlington.
Jo - Ooooo, I'd love a day off in the week too. In my old job I worked Mon-Thurs & had Fri, Sat & Sun off every week it was bliss.
ageandjo - get yourself to the docs! My doctor once berated me for having a cough for 3 weeks before I went to see him, I didn't think it was serious & would go away eventually.....
stressedoutmumof1 - work. Boo!
Queenie - love the teen survival kit. I've done a few student survival kits - emergency tin of baked beans, hangover remedy etc etc.
smashing blouse - That's my favourite wedding anniversary "thing" to do, lunch out & plenty of shopping. Glad you had a nice time.
What a day yesterday - picked up OH's new car from the garage & promptly crashed it on the way home, because the brakes failed. Fortunately no one was hurt, it's insured & as OH keeps telling me "it's just a piece of metal & it doesn't matter" but it really shook me up. I've never crashed before. The garage we bought it from are in for a roasting today - their attitude last night was basically "tough, prove it". I don't think there's too much damage - I haven't actually looked at it since. I'll go out in a bit when I've plucked up courage!
Enough about that, hope you all have a nice day :wave:0 -

Have a lovely day all
Take care

Morning all............
(((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))) to those who need them.
Have been suffering with a sore throat since Tuesday afternoon, not sure if I have a cold coming or if its something else......... just taking paracetamol and hoping it will go away, its ok after I have had something to drink......
Daughter and grand children here yesterday, they had a great time watching Stuart Little, they do not have TV at home, so get to see it when they come to Nana's.
We were hoping to have another go at the garden here, but OH says its raining!!!!!
Have almost finished a huge wash, just the towels to do tonight, the bin is still fiarly empty so should last out until next weekend.
Think I have dropped a large clanger...... OH wanted to go to Gardeners World live for his birthday, so I booked the tickets, think I have booked them for the same day I have booked the car in for service and also a Docs appointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH large senior moment, will know when I get to check the tickets...... keep your fingers crossed.
We have nothing really planned for today as its wet will not be in the garden, might go to the library after lunch....... I have finished my books.......ordered some more via the library website, but doubt if they will be there yet. Its great you order the books on line and just go in and collect them...... they send an email when the books arrive and you have 2 weeks to go in for them, saves raking round on the shelves if you know what you want.
Right I am off to check those tickets. OH has gone to the Drs for his review, told him not to let them change his tablets again, they changed them last time and he was ill............ can't be doing with that, if its not broke why fix it????????

Morning
My formatting buttons still aren't working when I log on here from w**k, even since I cleared all the pre-MSE-upgrade cookies, so am guessing my paragraph breaks still won't be working either  - will have to start doing most of my MSE posting from home I suppose. Had a lovely night's sleep (8 hours) but had only planned for 7 so as to be up at 6:30 to do last night's washing up, do a HM breakfast and cook up some ravioli with pesto to be reheated for lunch. As it was, I slept through my alarm and woke at 7:30, with time for none of the above  so breakfast was a takeaway bacon sarnie, and lunch will cost me as well (either a SE Asian curry from my favourite place, or, costing slightly less, a big jacket potato with prawns and avocados from a caff round the corner). Might go out tonight but haven't decided yet. Hugs to all who aren't well or who have funerals to go to. Rzl xx

Morning all!
Queenie love your idea for a teenage present, bit too late for mine unfortunately as they're 16 and 13 already:D but its a brilliant idea! perhaps you should market it? I'm sure it would be popular!;)
Just off to look after the elderly gent I care for once a week, otherwise it's my day off! am taking DS2 off later for a camp-over at a mates house.he's very excited about it.
DS1 has more revision to do.
May visit my mate later for a coffee if I have time.
I watched Anthea Turners perfect housewife programme on TV last night for the first time - left me feeling guilty about the state of my cupboards etc!:o I do try and am very organised but its the 3 males I live with and 3 dogs that ruin all my efforts! must try harder:D
Must go now.Back later
xxDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hello Jo, I think your 'jo's fun day' sounds fab and well earned. I'm still a long way off getting my finances/life in order and stories like yours are really encouraging
Morning PP - good news about your holiday. I gather the school had tried to refuse? Honestly give some people a little bit of power.... your post has also reminded me that I need to get my act together today ;-)
Morning Catowen - I know what you mean about sorting the weeds from the plants. I've been know to 'nurture' what I thought was a plant, only to discover it was some weed.
Jackie O - I hope you have a lovely time with your DG. It's lovely that your getting to see him. I know my boys miss their gran as she lives so far away. Quite jealous of you going to see Robbie Williams, he is soooo lush.
Ageandjo - sorry to hear that you're feeling so unwell. Sounds like a tonic is in order at the very least - there's a link to get free samples of Activit G on the freebie thread.
Queenie - I love your idea of an A.S.K. kit. 'Father christmas' once put a pack of three in my eldests stocking as given early enough I think it gives the message without encouraging them to 'broaden their horizons' too early. I think I'll do the same as you for my other two as they 'come of age'.
Smashing Blouse - Happy anniversary for yesterday.
Hi Manicdays - When you've finished with Kim and Aggie could you send them here please? Second thoughts, I think I'm beyond their help!!!
Lucie (((Hugs)))) - I remember the first time I bumped my car - it really shook me up even though it was nothing on the scale of what happened to you. Good luck with the garage.
Hello also to stressedoutmumof1, rmac and pooky.
As for me.... well the bread is smelling lush in the B/M. Experimented by adding some sunflower and pumpkin seeds, so we'll see how that goes...
I'm going to attempt to tackle the lawn again today. I swear that someone has fed half of it with lawn feed. It's growing so dense that I can't get the lawnmower nor strimmer to cut it down properly - yet the other half barely grows....
I also need to plant on my seedlings (lettuce, courgette and tumble tom) before I lose them completely. I start these things with good intentions....
Many other things on my 'wish list to do' but have got to run DS's various places today so I'll just have to do my bestMind... it's probably help if I didn't spend so much time on here
At least now I've joined this thread I'll be abit more 'focused'.... Duck!!!! there're pigs in the sky....:D

Morning everyone :hello:
Lucie - give them hell! A friend round here bought a car that wasn't up to scratch (to put it politely) and her husband was going to accept that they'd lost 3k. Anyway, she took a flask and sandwiches and sat around the garage all day until she received her money back!
jw - your "Jo day" sounds ideal. I hope that you manage to persuade them!
Queenie - what a fantastic idea about the ASK but :rotfl: about your youngest DS!
(((((hugs))))) to smokey, PP, Funkyfairy and JackieO
I've been at my parents' for the last couple of days, sorting out a couple of bits and pieces for the wedding. OH was supposed to be coming with me, but then decided that the last think that he wanted to do was go to my parents! My parents weren't expecting him to be there anyway, so he is still the perfect son-in-law to be.
I spent Monday afternoon with my mum and brother going through Grandpa's house. My brother is now living there  and is going to do it up gradually as his own   until he can afford to buy his own house..... so it'll probably be a good few years! If OH and I can't afford to buy, then my bro DEFINITELY can't!
I came back early yesterday so that OH and I could go to Milton Keynes to choose our gift list for our wedding! We knew what we'd put on it - ie lots of different bits and pieces that individually don't cost much money, but good quality stuff that will last us a lifetime. I'm of the opinion that presents that are given (if at all, I'm honestly not expecting them) are ones that will be with you for the rest of your life. My mum still uses the dinner service that she got for their wedding 33 years ago.
After we'd zapped everything and gone back to the place to "download" our list, the lady serving us said "you've got nothing over £50" as if we were really stupid! (all the other staff had been sooooooooooooo helpful) Obviously she'd failed to add up the dinner service that came to more than £50 (more like £500 ). When I added up the whole list when we got home, it came to £2k    so we've already taken a load of stuff off via the on-line bit. That's just too rude, isn't it? Please don't judge me!
Anyway, we're off shopping today for a bike (my bday present from OH - 2 months late) and glasses (for OH).
Have a good day.

Queenie your younger sons comment did make me laugh! He sounds just like mine when he was that age. What a great idea for a present.
Ive been quite busy the last few days.I made cheese on Tuesday from instructions on here
http://biology.clc.uc.edu/fankhauser/Cheese/Cheese98.htm
It was really easy. Then yesterday I made ricotta with the left over whey.
We wont be able to try the cheese yet as you have to leave it a month to mature.(you can buy rennet in sainsbury's)
I made some yoghurt with the rest of the yoghurt I used for the cheese starter.
I made a quarter lb of butter with a tub of whipping cream too just to see if I could. It only took 3 minutes in the processor.
I've been drying celery in the dehydrator and powdering it in the grinder to use instead of salt.It does taste very salty too!
We picked up a garden shredder from freecycle and shredded some of the hedge but sadly the drive belt has broken. The owner did say it was having trouble with his hedge clippings,I took it apart and it was absolutely caked in old green stuff gone hard.Anyway Ive written to the makers to see if i can buy another belt and I'm looking at the broken one to see if I could maybe mend it if not.
keep busy everyone

:rotfl: at Queenie. What a fantastic idea with the ASK kit! Mine are still a bit too young at the mo - but will certainly do the same! DD2 has a birthday next week - she is Spongebob Squarepants crazy - so themeing that one has been easy. DD1's is 6 weeks after, however she is at that awkward age, no longer a little princess and not quite a teen - and I am struggling for theme ideas. She has turned her nose up at Bratz, saying they "are SO last year Mum".
Day off from work today - so am going to blitz the house and washing.
Take care everyone.
