Hey mudbath, welcome to the asylum!

Thanks for the happy thoughts, must be working becasue just spoke to DH, and he's fairly happy. Then again, the boss is in Nottingham today, so he's still got to wait to be b*llocked properly. Grrrrr.

And that avatar is the same one as I use on MSN - weird!!

Well I'm not havign a great day... found out last night my mate and maid of honour is being sent to Afghanistan for 6 months! She's in the RAF and I'm pretty worried about her going out there! Don't get me wrong she's good at her job and she commands a lot of respect, but she's tall, fit and blonde... And I don't like the thought of her going to Afghanistan... :( They might try to abduct her!!! (ok ok I'm over reacting more than likely... but I really am worried about her!)
So not having a fab day it has to be said... :( Oh and stuck on my own tonight in a hotel AGAIN... boo hiss...

My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey
  • My Friends wife was the same, finished naval training and then straight out there..she works in hospital and they had only just got married two months before..was due to go out again, but she applied to go to Gibraltar and is now there instead for two years!

At least you get the bed to yourself..i wouldn't mind that, but then again we are not newly married..just older indifferents!

    Morning all,

Sorry not posted much - been having a right 'mare with the broadband, but a nice man from Virgin came and sorted out my box (ooh eerr) and now I'm all speedy & connected again.

Well, I hope you've all been good moneysavers whilst I've been away - my ebaying is going great! A bag I picked up in a charity shop for £3.50 just sold for £25, and everything has sold so far - the moses basket only went for a fiver but hey, it's a fiver I didn;t have. It's not just a money thing, our house is the size of a small shoebox, and we simply don;t have the space. I whipped round the other day, and took out everything I didn't want from just the frnt room, and despite already swamping Amazon with my pre-loved stuff, there's still another 3 boxes left!! Where on earth did that come from? So now it's all in the lost, in '1 week manageable' boxes and the deal is once a week the next box comes down, and whatever's left from the previous weeks box goes n Ebay as a job lot.

So my August challenge on the Make a tenner is so far up to £117, with Ebay, Amazon, daily clicks and cash surveys. Not a bad do considering I've only have internet 1 day!! Woohoo!!

Plus I paid off one of my littlies today - the remaining £40 for Natonal Insurance from when I was self employed. So that's one down, only 2 more 'littlies' (£440, which I'm hoping the mortgage company who b*ggered up the house move will pay, and £550 Council tax - note to self check out Herbies site on bailiff charges, cos I fail to see why I should fork out £200 for 'misc charges') to go, then can start plodding on with my biggies.

So feeling pretty good - social worker's coming today to get the adoption ball rolling, whilst we still have Beelzebub's Shower Buddy's goodwill - not sure how long that will last once I mention the debt....

Tip for today - wear something nice today. If you're usually in jeans and a shirt, put on a skirt (or a dress if you're brave). Put on a bit of makeup, or some perfume. Make a tiny bit of an effort. Lads - have a shave, and make yourself smell nice. It really makes you feel a lot better, and even if ou're just pottering around the house, why shouldn't you look a teeny bit glam?

We also live in a shoebox, and I keep trying to persuade hubby that we should do a car boot sale - he agrees, but then when Saturday evening comes around, he always decides he is too tired to get up early on a Sunday.

I may have to start thinking of ways to persuade him...lol! ;)

Well done on your ebaying :T I never seem to find anything worth selling in charity shops, although the ones near me seem to be frequented mainly by your ex-clientel (the wee-fragranced little old ladies), so perhaps that's why.

Oh, and meant to say, I LOVE your tip today. I do that if I have a lot to do, because it makes me feel more motivated and in control for some reason. Even though I end up grubby and dishevelled, if I start off presentable, I feel so much better.

It was a camera bag - picked it up to use as a handbag. Started it off at £2.99, end price £25 plus p&p means nearly £30. Roaring ahead of challenge this month, but then again, we're counting cash we already in the saving accounts (as it'll be put towards the debt anyway)

just wanted to say loving the blog! i am a single mum with a toddler and an ex who has left me in a world of debt - but I am facing up to it and just trying to wade my way through it. sometimes it feels like you have the biggest mountain to climb - but I know that when I have succeeded to sort it all out (and I will) I will be proud because I will have done it all on my own.
This time last year I was sat on a Yacht in st tropez - this week I spent 7 hours at the citizens advice berau complaining about my lack of child tax credit....thanks for your posts they are great xx
