Wondering about changing my name when my divorce comes through - may just stick a pin in the phonebook! My maiden name was actually my ex-ex's, so not too fussed about that, besides, having a double barrelled last name makes getting a table at a restaurant round here a bit easier. (The SH stands for Sto-Hellit - I challenge all you literary types to spot where it came from. First right answer gets a mention in The Book). What do you guys think?
.
Susan Sto-Helitt from terry Pratchett's Thief of Time - is only 1 of his I have read so don't know if is in any more!
Am I in your book??????
ps your posts make me laugh so much - cant wait to read the book!!!!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi Oberon. Can`t remember if you said you are going to deregister for V.A.T.If so,how`s that going?Did it myself.Brill not having to do all the silly calculations.Have you noticed that some of the V.A.T people where funny peaked caps and very shiny knee length boots?Ain`t it a real cheek though,us ruddy unpaid tax collectors trying to run a small business.Last inspection I had the bloke kept asking me if all the cash went in the till. I blushed like a 16 year o;d virgin----``Where do you think I put it.In my pocket??????????Not me squire.Best bit was ,he called other half into the office and said``Just show me these 2 till rolls and if all is OK that`s the inspection over.Dutifuly said rolls were produced. He looked up grimly and said``I`m afraid that they don`t tally with your books``OH picks them up,puts them round the other way and saya``Think you`ll find they will now``.He was out of that office like greased lightening.0

Gtaher round children, and hear my wisdom.....um.....yeah, well, listen to me witter....
Dotty - I'm a sad cow, and have my debts on separate sheets in my organiser as well as spreadsheets. I knock something off everytime I make a payment, goes down quicker that way! Glad to hear you've got organised - bet you feel much better. See, wasn't worth stressing over, was it?! Glad to hear business is booming. I don;t have my card machine any more, as they put up the minimum monthly charge to £43.50!!!!! I find it hasn't affected business, people either nipout for the cash or do me a cheque. Might be worth considering, to reduce business costs. PLus have you claimed your small business rate relief? Can halve your rates in the first year (reduction amount goes down over 5 years.
Ali, exactly right, you too whatamess - The Creature From The Bad Neighbourhood Of Hell was a big pratchett fan, luckily so am I!! You make the growing list of acknokledgements!Good icebreaker with otehr pratchett fans. Whatamess, you're already in The Book for the swahili!!!
Pobby - you're darn tooting it's a pain. PMSL @ Inept Official (c) (also comes in Bungling, Overzealous & Plain Irritating flavours). Touch wood never had an inspection, but now my account is clear they'll let me deregister. So no more being taxed for the pleasure of doing endless formfilling for me! Nope, now I just have to get on with making the dream a reality - I *will* have Mr 'Give Me All Your Money' Brown tarted up in Kim & Aggie style rubber gloves. One day....
I agree whatamess, his early stuff was fantastic, his latest (Thud) is just terrible. Not enough humour by half, and waaaaaayyy to satirical for a fantasy book. I'm not against Sam Vimes, but for gods sake bring back the witches! Rincewind at least! This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Yeah, after going postal & the wee mac books it all went downhill, really. Thud was appalling, The one before concerning sam vimes (can't remember the name) was only marginally less so. Still, don't suppose he can churn out best sellers all the time.
I want a luggage. Imagine having your very own homicidal wooden box! 'You want my tax return? It's in there. Good luck!'This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Mr TP is probably under pressure from the publishers as I am one of millions who buy the books he writes on release day without really finding out what its about earning them a fortune.
Stick the luggage in the corner of the shop and invite bully boy baliff/tango man to admire your antique, high value, inherited ottoman:rotfl: :rotfl:

I'd be lying if I said the money wouldn't matter, but I'd like to write The Book I wish I'd had access too before someone let me loose on the business community. Would have saved a lot of trouble and money.
Well, ladies, gents and the 'not sures',
Excellent day in the shop, business seems a little perkier - it's down to my baskets outside with everything a quid. At the moment it accounts for 22-40% of my takings. Sad, that I'm keeping track, but I want to be able to preen, and be a bit smug when my neighbours are complaining about slow days. DD was a bit of a horror, but she had a rough night with nightmares, so was right narky all day. Got a few slapped hands for running out the door, touching thread stands she knows darned well she's not supposed to touch. 1.5 and already a little rebel.
Had some good news, and some not so good news today DFW wise - the good news was that I only owe £150 on the suite, not £300, and that's going to get sorted next week. Then thats the first debt crossed off my list!! I've decided I'm going to try and tackle my debts one by one, as all except my big loans (10k each) are 0% interest (suppliers, bailiff company etc).
My not-so-good news is that I got a call from the bank about my business loan. Thy were'nt able to take a payment, and basically called to see if I wanted to go onto lower payments for a while. Very tempting, but I want that bunny paid off before I'm old and grey, and the DFD on that is currently 2012, Idon't want to extend it! So I said no thankyou, I'll get the money in by Monday. My problem is that when it comes to DD's I'm all over the place with trying to remember when things go out. This week's task - get it down so I know what has to be in the bank when! Oh, and the debt is closer to 10k than the 8k I estimated. B*gger, jacks my debt total up again.
But I have god some interesting looking books from the library, DD is making me smile more and more, and my divorce will be made Absolute on 3rd August (anyone in the Grimsby area, avoid the Barge on that weekend - as I will be drinking it dry and singing The Goblin Song at the top of my voice) I have been cursed with a horribly sunny outlook on things, He Who Must Be Shoved In The River Humber used to call me Two Flower. I have a terrible habit of when faced with debt, hubby walking out to bed ugly working girls and a 60+ hour week looking at things like 'Yes, but now I'm able to learn to live cheaply, don't have to use matching pegs to hang the washing out to avoid upsetting him and at least I'm keeping busy'. It irritates the hell out of me, so must really get on everyone elses t*ts. Some days I just want to be able to curl into a ball and cry, but somehow I never quite get to that point, something just won't let me. Bl**dy annoying.
Well, all this mindless rambling isn't getting The Book written, the front room tidied (why is it you only have to let a toddler *GLANCE* at a room to make it look like a bunch of squaddies have had a stag party in there?) and the kitchen cleaned. Plus I need to tidy my ebay stuff up, it's taking over the house!
I wnat to say thanks to all the people who have lent me their kind words (you're not getting them back) and a blushy smile to those who have thanked me for cheering them up. I do my best, chickees, we all need a moment to smile about things and don;t forget, we're all here to do the same thing - make Gordon Brown cry. What will he do if we're not all rolling in debts thus making companies money (which he then taxes)? Oohh, thought for today!! Extra tax to those 'we'll wipe out 75% of your debt and let you pay a quid a month so you can go out and run up some more debts'. Money to be used to fund more debt help resources.
But some should be used to give Carol Vorderman a wedgie......This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
