Thanks for all your replys- you are all so helpful. This is the freindilest site on Mse. Can I become a member ? despite only one sale.
AT- yes the cat in the photo is a Birman, she is very beautiful and called Zeta ( and she knows it ! ) but also very , very affectionate ( sits on my keyboard when im typing). She is a rescue cat and one of my best bargains at £30 ! I have always had moggies and have 2 other rescue sisters who are moggies . But I must say after having Zeta I am sold on birmans now.
Some local Birman clubs have rehoming for Birmans and I would definately recommend one.

Results day is August 17, so for university or A Level (and maybe GCSE if people are resitting) after then should be a good time to sell them.

Of course you can be a member, mumber 27 is the next one free.

Keep your wits about you at the auction or you could end up with more than you went for - but look who's talking here :o I have a shed, garage, greenhouse and when he's not home, my son's room, all stuffed with auction buys that will get put on ebay 'one day, when I've got the time' - the thing is at this time of year auctions get cheaper, at least for the small antiques and china that I buy because the buyers aren't buying so the dealers don't buy consequently they all sell for much less than normal, it's hard not to want to stock up for the autumn ebay pick-up.

Off topic, your cats are just lovely, I have 2 brothers and they are so entertaining to watch, they groom each other and sleep cuddled up together

    Hi Cat

    Zeta looks well cool

When you list your cookery books make sure you check how much they will cost to post before you decide on your selling price. Bear in mind that they often weigh more than the standard Amazon Postage Allowance allows for.

You can never tell which cookery books will be successful sellers, I've had some real surprises in my time.

This was one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/detail/offer-listing/-/1850510903/all/203-1150124-1400745 it used to regularly sell for £10 it's a pity people undercut by such large amounts, I managed to shift a few of these before the price dropped, readily available from boot fairs for 50p.

Just phoned my local auctioneers and there sale is every friday, apparently they have loads of books and are in need of clearing some to make room for other stuff.
Yikes sounds like a trip down there on friday.
They had a lot of four palletts that didnt sell last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind you I could'nt take that many anyway, but do need to make more money for something I am saving for.
Could probably fit one in somewhere.
Plus other half would go spare if four palletts turned up lol

I've just phoned mine and they have a sale every week too, with loads of books - I asked if they had lots of people bidding for them, he said I could probably get 5 average boxes of books for about £5! So guess where I am off to next week?!

Bought some books off ebay - not listed them all yet, bit disappointed with some, but some will be very good, hopefully!! Also bought some audio books which might be very profitable (or might not). Just browsing through ebay, and saw someone bought a Wilbur Smith audio cd for £20ish (used), plus £5 postage. It's on Amazon for about £8 or £9 brand new!! There is no logic to it, and shows that people still think ebay is full of bargains (unless there was something special about it that I missed!!)

Got very excited for a brief second as saw a book I have on Amazon had gone for about £45 on ebay... but it was signed by the author, mine isn't unfortunately.

I bid for about 1000 books the other night (don't think I was in competition with Matt or Becky unless you live up North??!!) soon as I had placed the bid, regretted it!! Had to then put the children to bed, so didn't see the auction end... was actually hoping I wouldn't win!! I think because there were a lot of fiction books in there. Anyway, didn't win, but was upset I hadn't!! (No logic, I know, but no brain cells either!!) But now I know about my local auction place... well, there'll be no stopping me!! Perhaps I don't need to get another job... *wishful thinking*

Oh, forgot to say... FFM thanks for the tips for listing quickly - might invest in one of those scanners with my redundancy money, if I can just talk my hubby into it. I use my autocomplete bit to help me fill in the narrative bit, but your other suggestions might be quicker thanks.

My sales have been very quiet recently, then sold a brand new DVD on Friday evening (within hours of posting). Couldn't post it on Saturday, so was trying to check emails before went to post it on Monday. For some reason, couldn't access them, when came back, had sold one earlier in the morning  (although I shouldn't curse a sale!) Now I have another pending - so considering I paid Amazon last time my pay day was due (following a refund, I was in debit with them), I'm not doing too badly. Am hoping my pending doesn't go through in a way, as for some reason I am MUCH cheaper than other sellers on Amazon - don't know how that has happened... it isn't like me!! Will contact buyer when I have remembered how to find his details.

Sorry for the long posts... I will do anything to avoid tidying up/sorting out!!!:rotfl:

I think the 1000 receipe books (by number of different authors) do sell well I recently picked one up from the charity shop for 50p and it sold within a few hours.
Though have'nt sold any books since.

I'm finding libray books really good value too, most I buy at 10p, I find it depends on who completes the transaction at my local library as sometimes they're between 20-50p and most times all at 10p!

Not had much look with books at carboot sales though, picked up lots of videos for 50p each and they sold quiet well.
