selling your stuff on Amazon - part 5

  • I have asked this question before but only got one answer, so I'd be interested in hearing further from all you other Well Seasoned Amazonians....on average, how many books do you have listed and how many sales a week do you have? As a newbie I'm trying to pick everybody's brain to make up for my lacking one!!!!!

    Many thanks.

The rule of thumb between ourselves is that for every 50 items you have for sale you might reasonably expect to sell 1 per week.
This came about because I posted that I had 500 books and sell around 10 per week and a few other posters seemed to think that their ratio was about the same, it's not hard and fast but it's a figure to use...

I now have 626 up for sale, 20 added today after a boot sale trek, I get very fed up with carrying them round boot sales and leaving them with the seller can be dodgy because I forget where I've left them so today I saw a heavy duty shopping trolley (a sort of all terrain 4-wheel drive type trolley) and bought it for £6 - excellent, no stretched arms! I look a bit of an eccentric old dear though what with the straw hat etc...
  • I would just like to pick the brains of the more experienced Amazon sellers if I may? I have a book listed, there is only one other copy listed (for about 5 times as much as my book!) However, my book went pending this morning and I have a very sneaky suspicion (probably totally unfounded!) that it is the other person with the book listed! Has this happened to anyone before? It is quite an obscure book, so I wouldn't imagine there are that many people looking for it.

Just sold my first CD so now i know they do,at least sell sometimes !

Now have 64 items listed-mostly CDs & 3 sales but still have lots of CDs left to list

Does anyone know if there is a CDs wanted list like the book one & if i can access it without being a pro seller ?

    Thanks

Id had two different items go pending a couple of times each and as there were only one or two other sellers, i wondered the exact same thing

but it would be hard to do anything other than suppose and just relist it

  • thanks seabiscuit. Did you email them at all about their pending payment, or just wait to see what happened? I was thinking of sending them an email but not sure what the proper process is as haven't had this happen before.

Hi from an MSE Newbie - but an Amazon Oldie

It wouldn't hurt to send them an email to let them know that you are holding the book for them, tell them that if they go to 'Your Account', then to 'Open and Recently dispatched orders', and click on 'View Order' and then click on 'Resubmit', 9 times out of 10 the order is completed with no further problems.

Tell them that if they don't want the book after all, that's not a problem, but could they possibly let you know so that you can relist it.

I had a lady try 3 times to buy a book from me, twice it went pending and finally went through on the third attempt.

I wouldn't be too suspicious if I were you, if I was buying a book and there was one at £5 and one at £25, I know which one I would go for - hope you get your sale.

My query is envelopes - I'm running short on some sizes, I need some A4 but not many. Can't decide whether to go for ebay or Viking Direct - Viking works out cheaper but is a big outlay. What do other people do?

My OH reads a lot of newspapers, so I wrap the books carefully and neatly in several sheets - the more sheets you use, the sturdier the wrapping, it's better for the environment than using new paper and best of all it's free!:money: My only outlay is a 20p roll of sellotape.;)
