Clearly they wish you to take your business elsewhere.
I would email their CEO to that effect.0 -
I've just (or rather thought I had) opened a Halifax Easycah account to get an Electron card.
However they seem to have opened an online account for me - no sign of a card.
I take it that this is not the same thing at all?0 -

I just received my visa electron card today, it was opened and could be seen on online banking before card was received. Took 9 days in total :j0 -
The table of fees on the Ryanair website now states -
"As a special offer to Visa Electron card holders, Ryanair, for a limited period only, will not apply a Debit Card charge"
It looks like a Visa Electron card may possibly not be much use for much longer for saving money on Ryanair.
I have a vague recollection that its actually something to do with the VISA merchant T&C's for acceptance of VISA Electron that prohibits them from charging you, rather than any fake gesture of good will from Ryanair at al.
P.S. Abbey do Electron cards - I have one on my current account0 -
cashminder from the coop do a visa electron its not a bad looking card either easy to open tooyou cant change yesterdaybut you can make tomorrow better0

I'm also going to apply for a co-op cashminder (with electron card), in order to save dosh on future ryanair flights. Just booked two return flights for two adults to and from France in October, at a very reasonable £36. However if I had the electon card already, and paid for the same flights with it I'd have only paid £20. I make that an 80% surcharge for paying by Credit Card!
As an aside, anyone know of any other companies other than Ryanair where if you pay by Visa Electron you won't pay a booking fee? :question:0 -
great thread.
booked ryanair flights yesterday. £10 return to Ireland; great deal.
BUT add on £8 more for using a Maestro card!
(also have a Mastercard, Solo, Visa Debit... but not the elusive Visa Electron)
total = £18 - still a brilliant deal... but for nearly 50% of that to be down to the cash card fee seems wrong!

i have a smile internet bank current account they automatically issue a visa debit card, have just phoned to enquire about visa electron, 1 minute phone call and they are sending me one, i get to keep my visa debit card as well - the two cards run alongside each other, result! i should have done this earlier got robbed by ryanair on my last booking, was concerned about getting electron though as you can't use it everywhere, the fact i can have both on the same account i'm well happy about. (may i recommend smile if anyone is unhappy with their bank, customer service is top notch).0

I've just got a halifax easycash card for the sole purpose of booking with ryanair. As said previously it is a basic account but will save on the booking fees.0
