Where to get a VISA Electron card?

Only where the flight is over £100. Many are under that threshold.
Also worth noting for others reading this that given Ryanair and Easyjet bill you as two single flights not a return, each single flight one way per person would have to be over £100 to claim on a credit card. Personally I've never paid over £100 for a flight sector on a low cost carrier.0 -
Hi, can you explain the hassle please? I've just phoned, got someone in Spain (I think!) who just said I couldn't have an Electron card. But someone on this post got one just recently. Was thinking of trying again tomorrow in office hours, but is it worth it?
I went into my local Abbey branch and they've given me an Electron as an additional card on my current account0 -

The £100 figure is only relevant for credit card claims under Article 75. For Visa chargeback, which is the relevant scheme for electron cards, there is not a lower figure for claims to be considered. Even though Ryanair, especially, and Easyjet are going through more turbulent times, there's very very little danger that either of them will go bust in the forseeable future as both have plenty of cash. A more real prospect is that Ryanair might mess up your holiday/travel arrangements by cancelling routes at pretty short notice as O'Leary doesn't give a damn for his customers. And if that happens he certainly won't give you anything apart from a grudging refund of your Ryanair fare.0 -
The Post Office do a thing called a Travel Money Card - that is a Visa Electron and does not incur the Ryanair charges.

But you do have to top the card up, and that costs 1.5% in commission (min £3, max £20) each time.0 -
I just rang smile and they offered to replace one of my debit cards with an electron. They knew straight away why I wanted one - they suggested the reason themselves - they get lots of calls for this.
I would imagine the same applies to co-op bank customers.
So....
STEP 1: Open an additional current account on-line
STEP 2: Request an electron card
STEP 3: Save the ryanair fee every time, simple!0 -
Hi Guys,
I've noticed you can buy gift vouchers on ryanair.com. If you purchase these and then use them to pay for the flight does this avoid the debit card fees???
You can only buy in multiples of £25 and you lose any unused credit but they may be helpful in certain circumstances. (like my own - trying to book 12 return fares to Dublin at £15 each way - £360 with extra £120 of booking fees!!!):mad:0 -
Following on from the Electron card thread - which I found very interesting, thanks to all contributors - Saw on TV this morning an interview with the boss man himself at Ryanair (how irritating is he?!) and in his usual (uncharming) manner he tried to shout down the protests more or less saying the savings are worth all the hassle he gives us - perhaps it might be for some but then he said that Ryanair were also considering at the moment a charge for going to the toilet?!!!!! Can you believe the man's audacity and cunning! This would immediately have the effect on me of needing to 'go' every 10 minutes but really, I could do without this hassle. Whatever next?:eek:0

You guys with Visa Electron for Ryanair want to get moving as soon there will be that
many using Visa Electron ( myself included ) on Ryanair that they will switch cards once again.
And by the way on BBC1 this morng the Ryanair Chairman said they were thinking
about charging £1 to use the Toilets onboard the Aircraft.
I think that is taking the P**S:rotfl:As One Door Closes

Is the Post Offfice Travel Money Card the only pre-paid Visa Electron card that can be successfully used on Ryanair? If there are others please advise!
I understand that the Barclays Gift Card cannot for some reason be processed under Visa Electron on Ryanair.
Does the PO Travel Money cards start with the usual UK Electron prefix of 4508 or 4917?
Thanks!0 -
now that smile do faster payments I just FP the mkoney to my halifax easy cash account and no hassle at all!
Smile wouldn't give me an additional account for some reason!:santa2:0
