The arrogance of some Ebayers

I personally have no qualms buying off someone even if their postage seems "excessive" as long as they send me the product as described and within the allocated timeframe.
I don't really care what they charge for postage as long as the TOTAL cost is reasonable.
I personally have no issue with it - perhaps people do but everyone has their own preferences!!0 -
I think you need to let this go and move on now CAT. If you feel your auction is fair then don't fret. If you are polite and dont like the arrogance of others then don't sink to their level and send a rude email like you said you did. Just politely reply that you do not offer BIN it is an auction as decribed, block them and let it go. You are now getting in a stew and going off on tangents and I am sure this bidder isn't. Please dont think I am being funny. I just think that now you have realigned your auction start price and postage that there is no more for you to do other than sit back and watch your auction. At the end of the day if you over price it the only person losing out is you as it won't sell.

I assume that means many sellers get their stock for low prices then??0

When you choose to advertise on e bay, take the fees into account. If you want to save on fees why not wait for a 5p listing day, then factor in the fees to the price you're willing to sell it for.
I know people have used the P and P cost to cover or contribute to paypal fees. But it's got to be reasonable - ie £10 charge to cover postage at say £9 or so may cover it. I wouldn't mind too much bein overcharged 10% as I would probably put it down to the seller estimating the costs.

The problem is that most 5p listing days are not in the weekends or on Thursday as seven and ten days auctions will end in the weekend. Of course ending in the weekend usually means selling the item for a better price0

It depends on what you sell but basically yeah, otherwise how would a seller make any profit?-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

CAT-THE-FIFTH wrote:Anyway I put the auction the price up and the postage to 10 quid as it was only 50p more
I though it would be a couple of quid more - I wish that both Paypal and Ebay fees were integrated into one flat fee IF PAYPAL was to be usef.
Had to set up a spreadsheet to work out exact costs.
To razorbladekisses 90 quid is not reasonable for this camera anyway as it included p and p and this camera sells for 140-150 quid on Ebay#
People think Ebay is a CHARITY and put on a hissy fit if they cannot get something for a price THEY WANTNeed to get rid of my Yankee Candle Habit, Not very money saving of me0 -
To me EBay is a store front it is not an auction. Virtually all my items are sold on BIN. I normally now list in a 3 day listing and price my items the top end of selling price band. Therefore if an item sells regularly for £90- £110 I would list it with a BIN of £100. assuming I bought it for £70 I make £30 (less fees) and hopefully I have sold 3-4 items in the same time that the guy who listed his on a 10 day auction and received £110. He makes £40 profit meanwhile I have sold 4 and made £120. This is where most folk who buy items cheaply go wrong they try to maximise profit at the expense of turnover.
To sell on EBay leave a turn for the next guy offer fast postage and exemplary customer service and the stuff will fly of the shelf.
Obviously for folk who are selling odds and ends from around the house a totally different set of rules apply.
As for P+P costs I have tried it all ways and in general I decide on how much to charge based on what my competitors charge. But assuming I am sending something that will cost me £5.70 to post I will charge something in the region of £8.49 for Special Delivery.
The one area this does become a problem is cheap (light) electrical items that are mainly sold from Hong Kong and it can be hard to compete especially since these sellers are not paying VAT and charge low price and high P+P.0 -

From your posts it seems you are a bit arrogant yourself. :rotfl:"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
